Most Americans have zero agency in the matter. We vote once a year or two, most of our states or districts aren’t competitive, and the candidates we do elect can ignore their constituents easily.

Excessive prosperity is one phrase for it. Another is kleptocracy, politics have been co-opted by money and those who have it now control 99% of US society. Those who have no prosperity are often the ones gambling, not the rich. When SS che

An inverted population pyramid is a huge problem. What does China do when it has far too few workers and far too many elderly? This is coming for them in the next few decades, a slow moving crisis in demographics.

I have a lot of elderly friends, from folk music jams. They’re in their 60-80 phase, plenty of money and energy, decent health, minds still in tact. They’re learning new tunes, arresting the decline of technique, interacting in person regul

Read books, play chess, write letters, knit, sew, DnD, play music, wheel around and chat with others, there’s a lot of solid options. Their environment needs to serve those up in as convenient a manner as a device, not likely, sigh.

Where’s the evidence, this writing strikes as purely belief based? For all the overhypers of AI, you also get extreme skeptics like this, and neither side has good evidence. It’s speculation. If he truly knew the future he’d short all the c
