You can kinda use a WeakMap to later detect if an object has been dereferenced, and thus run some sorta cleanup routine.

It's neat, but if I understand it correctly, if you forget to write the "using" keyword the code will still work just fine but the dispose will never be called, resulting in a memory leak. I don't suppose there is a way

It's true, that dying man giving the butcher quest will simply sometimes not be outside the entrance to the cathedral. I was surprised too.

There has been lots of instances of bad quality mods and mod abuse, which I assume will only become a bigger problem in the future. Having embedded community talent leave is never a good thing.

I'll grant you that, it's not the medium that matters. But pen on paper wasn't my objection, it was the post-it note on the bezel of your monitor.

That's basically an analog password manager, we have gone full circle. Or we return the metaphor to github repos, having a separate cabinet is like having a secret vault so that secrets are not directly in plain view in the repo itself

For your home desk? I can buy that. But for your work desk? No way is that even remotely more acceptable than having a memorizable password.

Yeah, I reacted to that too. It's like nonchalantly saying that you have all your passwords written on post-it notes at your desk. The topic of discussion shouldn't be how to secure your desk from spying eyes, but about why having

There is no "necessarily" about it, but it's obviously how history ended up unfolding. The big cultural-media-pop conflict in the west this very moment is centered around acceptance of diversity regarding gay and trans folks.

So you buy something else like Nest, and then google buys the company and removes your functionality anyways. That is, if vendor lock in will even allow you to get some other product without having to replace every device in your home (and

It's crazy, when I remove the YouTube Shorts pane it says "Shelf will be hidden for 30 days". It feels like a slap to the face by some promotion seeking Google Manager who tells me that he knows better than me. It's craz

It's the "too big to fail" scenario all over again. Just like with too big to fail companies and banks, only half of the equation is being applied: CPU industry wants to start using risky design techniques to get an edge on t

Not a fan, it looks kinda alright when you are using a string like that, but {num 5, val 4} looks alien to me. If you used this style in a programming language you'd even get {num var} which is even worse.

Ah issue is that some (most?) architectures can't do math without messing with registers such as an accumulator, carry flag, negative flag, etc. While it looks convenient, I'm not sure I'd feel very confident about what happe

It's extremely common to send a time input to GPU shaders, although this time input doesn't need to be tied to anything like a system timer or frame counter, it can be arbitrary and adjusted at will. Think of it like this: Imagine

There is a very strong disconnect between the value created by the lower class though their labor and what they are paid in wages. Companies don't use some formula where they give a percentage of what you create to you in return, they

Gmail launched on 1st of april and was thought to be a joke since it gave you a gitabyte (I think) of storage wheras email providers like hotmail gave you 50mb. Chrome launching was also a pretty big deal, I recall.

This conversation is clearly talking about the good or bad that the EU does. Are those books banned because of the EU? Would they stop being banned if Poland or Hungary was not part of the EU?
