There's VR other than facebooks out there. No need to let the whole tech whither because of one bad actor.

Allow me to suggest sable for the category of non-violent open world games. It doesn't really have any grinding but the travel in the game forces a zen-like approach to it all. I kinda wish it didn't have fast travel to be honest.

As a new dog owner, I'm pretty sure the dog mob could show up to beat me up and steal a kidney and I'd probably still think getting a dog was a great decision. Love is an odd thing.

Wait hold up, where exactly are kitchen drawers a fancy thing? I don't think I've ever been in a kitchen here without at least a cutlery drawer.

You can surely also use no character at all to replace a zero width nonbreaking space for that use case though, or am I missing some subtlety here?

Except that the freenode takeover didn't really have much to do with IRC as such. It had to do with a domain name theft.

Presumably you'd need tall dykes. 10 feet of storm surge isn't that crazy. In The Netherlands there are storm surge barriers that only close starting at a 10 foot surge.

It's both excellent satire and a very well written argument. It's some impressive writing if you ask me.

So what's the point of a zero width nonbreaking space then? seeing as that also exists.

The emergency services here can get anywhere in the city in eight and a half minutes. Having an eight minute response time inside a building is hardly impressive.

As someone who has recently become a dog owner: It's like walking around with a t-shirt that says "talk to me!". It's pretty wild. I get into all sorts of conversations now, with dog owners and not dog owners alike.

In my experience black 2.0 is pretty dang black, but it's not nearly as black as the marketing photos make it seem. It's still plainly visible in daylight. It's a structural black too, so in general touching it will make it

If I recall correctly road wear is quadratic with respect to weight. Two cars wear the road less than one double weight car. This makes sense when you think about it. In the two car case the weight is divided over eight wheels. In the one c

As a reference point: the protective bags around monitors and other easily scratched products tend to be "non woven fabric". If you look closely you can see the fibers are going every which way, instead of being in a regular patte

The worst thing is resistors with weird background colors for the color bands. I can usually figure out beige resistors, but the blue ones? no chance of getting those right.

Seems to me like something you could quite easily and cheaply build with an arduino and an ultrasonic sensor. Just have it measure how high the top of the starter is and sound a buzzer whenever it's no longer going up.

Well yes obviously. Measuring systems are largely arbitrary. The nice thing about metric is that is has been (arbitrarily) designed so you basically only ever run into conversions by multiples of 10. You could most definitely redefine imper

It fits neatly with a bunch of other measurements, avoiding the need for awkward conversion factors. E.g. a cubic meter is 1000 liters exactly. A cubic yard is 168.18 gallons approximately. But that's neither here nor there. Using foot

Solution: Use `python3 -m venv` to create virtual environments, use pip to install crap in them. There's a reason these tools are included with python where others are not.

Also fun stuff like you can't have a form inside a form, but if you stick a form inside a form inside a form you end up with a form in a form in the DOM anyways back when I ran into this last.

Using it in that example is still dangerous. The worry isn't only about line workers. It's about plugging in one end and holding the other. Exposed live contacts are never ever a good idea.

Well yes, 200 grams every day is different from a kilogram every now and then. I'm not saying that you can't get into trouble with licorice, you're just reasonably unlikely to, and the claim that "a few pieces a day"
