Eh fair enough, but that's debating definitions which is not usually all that interesting. Seems like word choice aside we agree.

This is a generic dog "non-agression" signal as far as I understand. Licking your nose (or at least pretending to do so) works similarly.

It's not nonsense. The fact that aperiodic tiles like these need to be designed for a specific grout width is non-obvious and quite interesting.

It's consent on average. Of course no sane criminal is going to consent to being arrested, that's not quite the point this article is trying to make.

Oh that's an interesting point actually. I hadn't considered the tiles needing to be designed around the grout width. Still, I don't think you'd need to be particularly exact with the tiles or grout. In fact it would pr

The grout when tiling allows for a fair amount of fudging things, though from experience exactly dimensioned tiles are MUCH easier to work with.

To stack overflow people: for the love of god please answer X before launching into your XY diatribe. People are on average not dumb, there's probably restraints preventing a solution to Y being workable.

To add on to this: see if you can offer to walk someones dog sometime. I swear it's like walking around with a big "talk to me!" banner.

Honestly I could kinda see going "Oh shit gotta bail! might as well grab my selfie stick that's within reach", but the whole sum of "could happen but not very likely" definitely points to the whole thing being on pu

a pacemaker is admittedly a poor example, but it's also just that: an example. I'm sure there's hosts of medical devices that would benefit from dissolving. Perhaps even devices that are infeasible currently because they don&

Apple juice in a whiskey glass is a good one too. People just sort of assume the alcohol content. Or if you're in a place where they sell ginger beer that's a good one too. Looks like it probably ought to be alcoholic, has "b

As an autistic person, trust me when I say you don't want me to attempt forced eye contact. It's many many many levels more unnerving to have "bad" eye contact than a lack of eye contact.

I find copilot most useful when writing comments tbh. Whenever I'm stuck contemplating how to phrase the rest of a comment it comes with a suggestion. It might be a terrible suggestion but that's usually enough to get me unstuck.

So perhaps this is obvious, but for commuting you probably want to use a longboard, not a skateboard. Can't do tricks on a longboard, but other than that it's much easier than a skateboard.

By setting the bar lower, honestly. A walk in nature isn't very likely to make you happy, but it is quite likely to make you content. Happy is the top of the scale. Content is "good enough". I have a slight tendency towards g

I think one of the main advantages of a 3 point seat belt is that it allows people to tilt towards the middle of the car if the roof crushes some. With 4 or more point seat belts you'll also then want a roll cage.

Oh for sure, the internationals are catching on slowly but surely. The main reason no one wants to bother with anything but iDeal of course is because iDeal works so well. The convenience factor is incredible.

A proper iDeal integration doesn't break in that scenario. I'm not entirely sure as to how it's implemented technically, but if you do iDeal right it works even if you never click the "back to merchant" button. E.
