Cash friendly places are getting more prevalent in the US, but you have to look for them. For example, one of the hospitals in my area publishes this (very sane) price list: http://swedishhospital.com/patient-financial/

I don't know that you could measure it with something like Moore's Law, but aerospace capabilities grew at an astonishing rate at the beginning of the 20th century. From the Wright Brothers' first powered flight in 1903 to t

This is functionally the same thing as a 2-for-1 sale. Not that I really know what such sales are supposed to accomplish, but you see them frequently enough that there must be some reasoning behind it. Maybe getting a free second thing ma

Yeah. Mosquitoes are densest in the tropics where hailstorms are rare, but just about everywhere on earth short of Antarctica has some mosquitoes. I'd think mosquitoes would meet hailstones occasionally, though I can't really

Cold isn't required for hailstorms. The ice forms at altitude. We have a lot of hailstorms in the spring and summer in Colorado, and while it isn't the mosquitoiest place I've ever lived, there are mosquitoes.

I was once told of a similar situation in a high school: AP classes were worth 6.0 in your GPA, while regular ones were worth 4.0. The valedictorian wound up being the person who realized this, took as many AP classes as possible, and as
