What confuses me is that you agree with my point, that there is no evidence whatsoever for the Syrian allegation, it is heresay. So why don't you also complain that everyone is discussing it as fact?

NO Please, I read Hacker News for intelligent discourse, away from Reddit-type nonsense. There is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that the NSA hacked the Syrian core router. Snowden was passing on office gossip which he heard. Why isn't that fa

No, I don't edit 200MB files, and I suspect that that is not what Sublime Text was optimized for. I would use another tool for that.

Atom is too slow to be useable in real world projects. It's fine for hobby coding a few files. But try opening anything larger: it's painfully horribly slow. This is not something that can be fixed; it's because they are usin

It baffles me why the ST company don't communicate better. I'm a huge supporter of Sublime Text because it enables me to be hugely more productive. Everyone I know who uses it can never go back. BUT! It's run as if it was a h

It is, I've used it since release on a permanent basis with no problems.

The notion that Sublime Text's USP is "multiple cursors" is absurd. It is a lightning fast next-generation editor. It changed the game entirely when released, and still nothing comes close.

Genuine question. Are people actually using Atom in production projects? I found it unusably slow because it's browser-based; a generation behind Sublime Text in speed.

Yes, you can show up, but you won't get a job unless you speak fluent Swedish. Maybe if you are a specialised engineer/IT. Even then, the Swedish applicant will be picked first.

I have Swedish friends, took a few years. Almost every expat I meet has none. There is a wall there. It is unlike any other country. Sorry.

Some came on temporary contracts, and wanted to stay longer. Some came for Swedish boyfriend/girlfriend. Some came because they had a hopelessly naive idea about Sweden. Some were PhD graduates from Swedish universities. All had their

Meanwhile, in the real world... Don't come to Sweden without a job. Even then, Sweden is one of the most difficult countries in Europe to migrate to. Society is extremely conservative, and social opportunities to "get to know"

The article says that theoretically it is possible that the NSA hacked internal server traffic at Google. Therefore they are intercepting and archiving every snapchat ever sent? This is not intelligent discourse.

Wait what? The parent OP said that every snapchat was being intercepted and archived by the NSA.

That didn't happen. Except in the fantastical magical world of the conspiracy theorist.

I wouldn't call it a weird interface. I would call it the one of the most confusing and idiotic interfaces I've used in a while. Or perhaps I'm stupid? That's how the website made me feel.

Can't we ban links to the Quora website? It doesn't let people read the page without logging in.

The tired trope that "they" "the 1%" are keeping secret information from you. And that you need to wake up etc. It's not intelligent discourse.

But the headline says: "Goldman Sachs Steals Open Source, Jails Coder" Which is a lie. It depresses me that even HackerNews upvotes headlines they know are untrue, if it suits the cultural narrative.

Just a clarification: Goldman Sachs didn't "jail" this person. Goldman Sachs is a corporation, and therefore doesn't prosecute nor jail people. Please leave this nonsense on Reddit.

This is the logical conclusion after the Mozilla farce. Every new hire will be vetted for correct political affiliates, or the ISJP (Internet Social Justice Police) will do their McCarthyism thing. We live in interesting times!

It should be OK to ask any question, that is how we learn. The passive aggressive "rewarding with a grimace" creates a toxic work environment.

Chapters (and page numbers) give people a cognitive clue as to where they are, when reading fixed content. Try removing the chapters and page numbers from a book, and most people will complain.

Agree completely. For long threads, Discourse is a usability disaster. phpBB is awful software, but everyone in the world can click on page 20 and know where they are. Jumping 2/3rds into a long topic using Discourse is essentially imp

I understand your frustration. This is the 3rd editor I've got excited about by looking at screenshots (see also Atom and Brackets). Then was disappointed when I realised they render using a browser. =Slow. Not slow enough to be unusea

As someone observing from outside the US, this entire issue confuses me. This CEO doesn't hate gay people. He's not homophobic. He simply is against gay marriage, a view shared both culturally and legally by much of the USA. Don&#
