I think there are about two classes roughly. The mathematically pure functions crowd with emphasis on correctness and the expressive power camp (which also helps with correctness indirectly). I fall in the latter camp where functional progr

Well the loophole is not really a loophole more like an escape hatch in that NFLT was shown to not be applicable for certain types of coevolutionary algorithms like say pareto coevolution. The way I understand it is that in essence the no f

I am probably biased but I think he makes the same mistake he is arguing against. Base rate neglect is due to an inability to calculate a conditional probability properly - assuming P(A given B) = P(B given A). In a similar type of fallacy,

I am not sure I agree with your take on neural networks. Neural network is a vague terminology. But most people mean multilayer perceptrons which I agree are not very useful. But logistic regression is a very widely used 'single layer neura

There are lots of techniques. Really simple and effective methods are naive bayes and kNN. Other methods include decision trees and logistic regression which seems to be popular at Google from what I can indirectly infer from their papers.

Thanks, that was helpful. I'll have to take on that course as I do need to work on communicating clearly. The unedited stream of thought thing does a good job of hiding what I am trying to say. counter-productive.

I think programming is a vague term. If programming just means rigorously encoding an imprecise set of instructions then while not easy I cannot say it is especially difficult. But if your programming involves complex mathematics, physics, l

Perhaps I should I have clarified with No Limit. Yes heads up limit poker bots are pretty high standard. But No Limit (and 6+ players) is the real interesting game to solve.

Game theoretically optimal strategies for poker can only be reasonably approximated so there remains room for even these strategies to be exploited.

My comment was an argument as to why Mozilla's choice not to introduce this dependency was not a bad one - there is no technical reason why the fast execution multiple language advantages of NaCl cannot be architected into a javascript vm.
