Very interesting question. :) To be completely honest, I haven't really thought about that. I haven't really really looked into that either. However, I am basing this attempt on the belief that, if Twitter, TwitPic and Instagram

I have just one question for everyone: Would you guys use something like [HashPix][1] instead, if it were made available as an alternative? If not, I'll stop working on/maintaining it and devote my time to other pursuits - prefera

As I was reading your reply, I kept thinking, "Well, this sounds pretty standard..." until I reached the part where you said: > give you a very thorough groping which includes putting their fingers into your waistband and feeli

Sold! Caveat: I don't know Rails. I've only recently started teaching myself to code/program/develop. So I guess now is a good time to start with Rails as any, eh? 8 months ago I jumped straight into working with Django&

Non-American here. Can someone point me to what exactly happens if you opt-out of these screenings? What happens on this 'opt-out floor-mat of shame'? I'm asking out of pure curiosity and prefer not to search those keywords a

Wait, HN doesn't mind reposts? Shut the front door! o_O Also, I wistfully disagree with you about the "highlighting creation" bit. I mean, FSM knows I want to agree with you but my experience so far says otherwise. In all the

I can confirm this. The search term alluded to, as well as all hashtags stemming from it, have been auto-tagged as nsfw in HashPix as well. OT: We have just managed to carry out a conversation about a word that was not even mentioned once w

Heh, good catch! :P I've been lazy about writing a good filter to weed out the nasty ones. I considered quite a few approaches - ranging from an NLTK-based algo to basic brute-force list-search with word-stemming. Then I realized, it w

You can always use it for good, you know. ;) The Instagram API returns an APINotAllowedError (response code 400) when you search for one of these hashtags. I'm using it to automatically identify and categorize NSFW hashtags for one of

True that. The answer is also kinda obvious. It started it as a matter of convenience ("I'm too f king bored to type out my long-ass password" or "I have so many passwords, I can't be bothered to remember them all&

Isn't it a known fact that, when asked, browsers store passwords in plaintext? Why would anyone choose to let the browser 'remember their password' anyway?
