My headcannon is that it’s a money thing, and that there must be intense lobbying by the internet surveillance manufacturers (like Thales).

I’m not sure what you mean by “a nightmare to set up”. You install Nix on your current OS with the determinate.systems installer, and you enter `nix run github:johndoe/project-containing-a-flake-dot-nix-file` to try out the project and

It’s like Vim, you learn it once, and you keep using it forever once you’re used to it. I’m so thankful to see a flake.nix file in every single cool project on code forges.

You say that like it’s a joke, but the huge wall of text did that for me. Unless I was being forced to take the test, I’d just have given up on doing it.

Those are Vim bindings. The J key rests right under your index finger (and it’s easy to find it thanks to the nudge on your key), which enables you to spend little to no energy to “scroll down”; the K key is for scrolling up.

How do you ensure the titles aren’t confabulated? I’ve used Kagi News recently and it summed up the articles about France wrong (that’s the only section in which I could reliably spot the made-up stuff).

I’m on mobile, hamburger menu is never the way I discover a product, especially when there’s an “Explore Plans” call-to-action button supposed to lead me to the info I’m looking for.

Not only this seems to be a paid product (yes, I know, with a free version), but the pricing page is hidden behind a registration form… Hard no for me.

The article has an AI-generated headline image, implying the author might have used a LLM to write their article, giving no incentive to read it.

You probably don’t want to read news websites which are nothing but LLM output without a journalist reviewing the articles. Unless you’re a fan of conspiracy theories or ultra-aligned content.

The AI is an integral part of the platform. My impression from reading the reviews on their website is that you won’t go anywhere using Solveit if you don’t let the LLM give you feedback. Sigh. I agree with the parent poster’s sentiment.

LLMs cannot think on their own, they’re glorified autocomplete automatons writing things based on past training. If the “AI figured out something on your mind”, it is extremely likely the “thing on your mind” was present in the training cor

AFAIK, Typst doesn’t handle multilanguage documents well, and hyphenation in particular. I had to go back to XeTeX because of this.
