Which of the ten are not mainstream? Surely you agree some are held by significant numbers of people. Take his #3 for example. You haven’t heard people claiming “Silence is violence?” While decrying the Karens’ inability to just listen?

Not entirely. The idea of a gay/straight binary, though, is pretty outmoded. Some people probably do have agency over their sexuality, or respond to incentives other than gender/sex. And part of that’s probably social.

It doesn't relate specially to trans speech; KixiQu's comment above observed that fediverse instances seem to moderate out transphobia more than Twitter. Then JL6 asked if fediverse is moderating itself into a silo. I'm sayi

Taleb wrote a book called "Anti-fragile," which comments on three kinds of systems: * Fragile systems try to avoid disorder, disruption and/or shocks. * Robust systems stand up to shocks, but don't change. * Anti-fragile

Yeah, I don't think you can compel debates. I'm sensitive to arguments about bodily integrity and complicity. People are exercising a right to exclude voices they don't want to hear. But new tech lets us do it so well. And

Twitter and Facebook aren’t “free speech,” as the wags remind us all the time. In fact, they’re machines for hyper-self-reinforcing echoes of the national id. More speech leads to truth, unless you can choose to wall yourself off from all c

I think the more interesting part is that the ACLU was committed so strongly to non-discrimination in 1986. And I agree the settlement doesn’t prove the claim was valid. But why would protection matter less when you’re wearing the garb o

California makes political view a protected class. In fact, in 1986, the California ACLU sued a restaurant for excluding Nazis, under California anti-discrimination laws. The restaurant settled. http://volokh.com/2006/0

More speech, not less. A "clamp down" on wrong think will result in martyrs. They need to start explaining and persuading. Something Biden has not really been forced to do in this process, unfortunately.

If you have an ecobee, take a look at beestat.io. Ecobee's consumer interface hides a lot of the useful trend data, which is the whole point of having these, IMHO. Beestat is a vast improvement on the default.
