I would guess it is not only possible, but one of the intentions behind it. A percent breakdown of calls to involuntary commitments would be useful. I found something about a Florida Department of Family & Children suicide line having

There probably is a IVR (Interactive Voice Response) menu for emergency services somewhere, but it seems a bit too surreal for me.

I'm not sure how these lines work. I wonder how they balance public safety against the disincentive of involuntary commitment and the stigmas attached to it. I imagine if you feel there is a risk you will have your rights taken away (i

In the US, there are limits to all of our constitutional rights. Laws that limit these rights must pass constitutional muster. Different rights have different tests the laws must pass. Generally speaking, in a challenge of constitutionality

The HN age demographic seems older than most online communities. If they aren't using apps for quick thrills, they are moving to the Villages and using an upside-down pineapple as an ironic bat signal for some fruitless copulation.

The author speaks heavily of stable coins. The first stable coin came a half decade after BTC... Also, the author doesn't know how to spell Bitcoin... Also, wtf are major promises? 1 Bitcoin still equals 1 Bitcoin, and YRMV is the watc

The generalized sentiment predates him, but I have never seen the comparison of banning DDT to causing more death than Hitler anywhere but from post 2000 and originally from Crichton. If it comes from somewhere else can you source it? Note,

The idea that reduced pesticide use creating more deaths due to malaria was not debunked.... The idea that Carson wanted a complete pesticide ban and that Silent Spring was the main cause of the reduced use may have been debunked. And certa

Maybe they do not. It's ironic that many people criticize the speed of python when it (or at least CPython) was originally made to run highly optimized C-linking code. But I also take the Cython route when it's just one to a few f

I agree with everything you say (in fact another post I made on this page deals with "it should be NumPy to Python" because so many people learn the language through some popular library) I agree with your points, but the only cou

I'm totally a fan of educational work aimed at a subset of programmers. And I myself went from Python to NumPy. This would have been great if it was around when I was working with SciPy stuff. That said, I think a NumPy to Python, or r

There was Access Services in SharePoint but it was depreciated a few years ago. Unfortunately there are some very large companies that use Access in a shared drive instead. They make daily backups just in case there is data corruption.
