I am one of those immigrants who were “wealthy”, which meant my family was able to save money for years to afford my plane ticket to the USA. When I came here I was one of the poorest kids at school. Stop making excuses.

This is an awful take. From experience, being “wealthy” in a third world country translated to being on one of the lowest brackets of poverty here in the USA.

Nobody worked hard for their money in your world? I was cleaning floors at a fast food place just 15 years ago. If you were to see my parents driving the new car I bought for them this year (I need them to be safe), I bet you’d say the same

Yes I do remember opening the news that day and my reality completely changing. Up until then the “party van” parked outside your house taping your conversations was a joke perpetuated by schizos. Turns out they didn’t need a “party van” pa

Is there any way to vote against the current way the FBI/CIA operates? They are straight up coercing witnesses with fake testimonies to get a man prison, whose only crime was sharing the truth about the shameful inner workings of our A

I was just throwing a number. I don’t work at Google, but I have heard from friends who work at that scale that when bugs only affect a few thousand people, it is “safe” to ship.

Yes I agree. As someone who works with programmatic advertising technologies, I struggle to convince friends that 80% of what they see in a screen has been decided by a third party and it is not them “looking for it”.

I wasn’t arguing for these companies having to change. In fact, I am glad it suits the life of people who enjoy that lifestyle. I was arguing that whatever imbalance will fix itself.

Estimating hours for a project is essentially project based billing, it is just more granular. I don’t think the developers who only work 3 hours a day when they are employed full time are being amoral. If they can do it, more power to them
