The theory goes that in order to get good at something (anything), you need to put in about 10000 hours (5 years of full-time work). I would venture to add that probably, age has some influence in that the age edges (very young/old) are les

Just today I had a discussion with one of my colleagues. There are tons of people (most of whom matured when Windows was hot), who simple weren't exposed to the command line ever. Teaching Git to them is torture for both the teacher and the

I got this error, too, on my German account. I tried several times. My US account worked fine, though. Darn you, Apple, for being so un-global.

I'd be interested if cardboard is easier to work with than metal. I have this vision of a huge machine that basically eats waste paper and stamps out bicycles like paper cups. You know, something that you could buy on a vacation trip for 20

Also, typing. I am frequently amazed to see professional software developers with years of experience in the field, who only type using their two index fingers. You probably do not need to type 120 WPM to be an amazing programmer, but typin

I have set up my Emacs so that it will automatically download and install all my favourite plugins if they are not installed yet. So to set up a new machine, I simply copy my .emacs over and start Emacs. Emacs will then fetch and install al

Actually, I don't quite get why users are so upset about this. They said they would keep releasing maintenance and security updates, so hopefully, I will be able to keep using this app for quite a while. Because the thing is, I think this a

Hypothetically speaking, you could be running on a cheap laptop that you bought used for some $200. One and a half years of using Dropbox would cost about the same amount. Realistically though, I totally agree.

Evil is absolutely awesome. It is hands down the best Vim emulation I have ever seen in any text editor and even manages to not clash with stock Emacs much. That said, my mind is incapable of handling both Emacs and Vim at the same time. Wh
