That's interesting. I'd love to hear more about your problems with it. My email is in my profile, feel free to drop me a line. I deployed a small but moderately complex crawler backed by a database with Scrapy. It had some custom

I did not create Scrapy; you would have to thank Pablo Hoffman [1] for that. :) He's the co-creator and lead developer. [1] https://github.com/pablohoffman

I have to agree that Scrapy is oriented more towards long-running spiders. For a one-off script, I'd probably do the same thing as you.

Why not just use Scrapy[1]? It's built for this sort of thing, easily extensible, and written in Python. [1] http://scrapy.org/

Sure, it can be accomplished in a variety of ways: swapping a migrated replica; breaking big schema changes into multiple incremental migrations that minimize the amount of time the database is locked and back-filling data; or spinning up a

No. You can migrate big production relational DBs with much less than hours of downtime; sometimes there's no downtime at all. Please, either qualify your statement, or stop speaking in such an absolute sense.

Just to provide context, underfunded was my nice way of saying exactly what you describe. Kids have been stabbed and gun fights have broken out inside the school. That was my fault for not making it clear, I apologize.

Good question. It's one that puzzles me every day. While my ethnic background appears to have had no bearing on my life, it most certainly affected my parents' lives.

I know what you're trying to say, and I understand that you believe you have a set of individuals with upbringings that are relatively equal, for all intents and purposes, but as an African-American your comment rubs me the wrong way.

Isn't it incorrect to simply compare the capacity of the Hyperloop vs. the High Speed Rail. Shouldn't the transport time also be taken into account? I mean, simplifying of course, if the Hyperloop can carry ~3,000 from A to B in 3
