(I worked at reddit) It's not really related to search, most of the cause is a pretty bizarre optimization method that reddit decided to implement fairly early on. The database structure is unusual and not very conducive to indexing (i

It's a bit weirder than that. It actually does save all the posts, but the "saved" page (like almost every other page on the site) will only show you 1000 items, so there's just no way to access all the older items onc

Nothing stops it, that's part of the point. People should feel free to fork it and start their own site with different ideals, features, etc., they just have to open-source all their changes/updates to the code as AGPLv3 requires.

The article has changed its title to "Facebook misses on topline in Q2; stock crashes 7.5%" now, kind of funny that it's almost the opposite of the original one (and the article text still sounds very positive).

I'm sure that it's encouraging to people, but in the end it's very unlikely to change any outcomes. If the project is going to succeed, someone else would have made that first pledge, and the same effect would have happened.

I'm sorry, but this idea really doesn't make any sense to me. $1 on every project doesn't make any meaningful difference--every project that would have failed without it will still fail, and every project that would have succ
