   A couple things: you don’t have to click volume and then move to the slider, you can just touch the volume button and begin sliding immediately and it will adjust relative to how you slide. Also, if you go into System Preferences—>Keyboa

   This is known as key rollover, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollover_(key) It is a result of the matrix wiring of the keys, though more expensive keyboards will have them wired individually, mitigating this issue
