Sure, but read closer, and you'll see that the impression of the two interviews is based almost entirely on the subjective terms the writer chooses to describe them. One person was the "shark on the team" whose questions got "very aggressiv

> Do you know why this line of C++ code compiles with Visual Studio 6, but produces the wrong result? Are you actually serious? You ask about a quirk in a 15-year-old single-platform compiler? I always wonder what some interviewers thi

That's kind of interesting to me, because my questions are exactly like mindcrimes and I would never ask the kinds of questions you're interested in. I sometimes say in interviews that I'm actually not that interested in the big picture of

Thank you very much!! I stand corrected. And with this to search with, I found the complete original on Google Books (along with what seems to be a complete set of Journal de Paris from the 18th century; I'm going to waste the whole day r

If it was actually published in Journal de Paris, why the weird "Journal of Paris" thing? And did the actual Journal de Paris really publish letters in English sometimes? I've always heard Franklin was a big celebrity in Paris(that defi

I've seen this before, but it's always seemed curious to me. Does anyone know the circumstances of this letter? Was there really a journal of Paris? Was it some kind of English language paper for ex-pats, which would explain why Franklin

The cannabis market doesn't match Akerlof's conditions. Due to the high rate of repeat business and relative ease of evaluating quality post-transaction, reputation functions as an effective public quality assurance mechanism. Forced relia

It's pretty funny that an ISP can't get their certs together, but geez, temporarily accept the cert, read the service agreement and get on with your life. Are you seriously worried about a man-in-the-middle attack here? Trying to impress f

Organizing a meetup and then using the first meeting to promote your own commercial product is bound to raise some flags at meetup.org. And I'm really glad it does, otherwise we'd be inundated with meetup spam as every product launch creat

For the types of testing that he's doing, I suspect he's measuring boredom more than anything else, especially since he's testing largely in a university setting. Intelligent people are accustomed to being bored with endless entry-level ev

I don't see that. Keeping your original history around is a function of doing cleanup on a separate branch. It has nothing to do with how that cleanup is achieved. Rewriting your existing history with git reset can also go horribly wrong,

This seems like a pretty terrible workflow to me, do others here actually work like this? I only use git-add -p when I've screwed up and didn't commit when I should have, so I have to split the current commit into two. It seems to me that

I assumed he meant a for(obj in list) , not for(int x = 0; i < foo... . It's pretty natural to forget the first syntax if you haven't used it in a while because there's no real standard for it across languages.

Well, then we're in agreement that "end of the hammer" questions are reasonable just to weed out the obvious imposters, right? So the question is whether these "nano" questions are reasonable equivalents? And I think "how do you inherit a
