Every time I link someone Ecosia, they always complain that it doesn't have a "clean start page", and I do agree. That, and not having the ability to see less or more of certain pages is why no one I know uses Ecosia.

You can use the Stylus extension to get HN to look any way you want. There are some good community made styles for HN as well.

I'll ask you the same as below: "... I have to ask, do people really use Flatpaks for something like a process monitor? It feels like a process monitor should launch almost instantly. Waiting ~3 seconds for a Flatpak sandbox to sp

For all the years I've been using Linux, I've always had some kind of sleep issues. I've used Intel, AMD, ATI, and NVIDIA hardware across countless distros and setups, yet nothing seems to make a difference, there's alwa

I second this. A lot of technical people struggle with Linux, and I think a lot of that is because they have a way of working and they want to force whatever they use to work like that. While less technical people just use whatever they

I recently found out that a friend of mine installed Linux on his own, completely removing his Windows install. And he has yet to "fiddle with the terminal", but still enjoys gaming on Steam and goes on with his daily routine.

"Vim mode" in editors like Zed is great and all, but to me, Vim is much more than just a set of shortcuts. What I love about Vim is how seamlessly it integrates with the terminal and shell. I can pipe, redirect, and manipulate tex

I barely ever use my laptop. It works fine 99% of the time, Firefox is like the 1% that's too slow to be usable with it. Floorp solves that.

I've not used Ubuntu in many years. Laptop is running openSUSE Tumbleweed. Snaps and even Flatpak are a no-go on this laptop hehe.

My very old, and bad, laptop takes an extremely long time to start Firefox. However, forks like Floorp are a lot quicker to start. And since I'm pretty strict about using the same tools everywhere (no matter the OS) I'm now using

I personally use Vim because it lets me use the keyboard for everything. In Zed there are still lots of places I have to use the mouse.

I want to use Go, but whenever I compile a small CLI tool using it and it comes out as a 10 MB executable, I just feel ashamed. Especially when Zig and many other tools can produce the same thing at a few KB.

I barely know anything about America, and I honestly don't care. It's just weird seeing everyone talking about every little thing Elon does, scanning Twitter for every mistake or comment he makes.

Not trying to be rude, just curious—why are people so obsessed with Elon Musk, whether positively or negatively? I don't see this kind of attention given to figures like Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook, or Warren Buffett.

The compiler seems to enforce spaces? But I did see some code that replaces tabs with spaces, but it feels dirty having that in every single source file.

Maybe, it's just so hard to read for me. Also, my IDE isn't all fancy, so tab is tab, I'd have to space it all myself...

Maybe it's just because I'm getting older, but I struggle to read Nim when I'm forced to use two spaces for indentation. I can barely make out each block of code, and I don't like to rely on my IDE to make a language rea
