When I lived on a farm in wales, we would occasionally discover in our fields something called bog oak. This was trunks of oak placed in the ground by ancient farmers to drain a field. Over the centuries this had become semi-fossilized and

This is how we reduce noise in filmmaking. My de-noise node in DaVinci has two settings: spatial and temporal. Temporal references 3 frames either side of the subject frame.

I use screen recorders all the time. Question: what format does it capture in? Some screen recorders capture as mov files, which get janky in high zoom. A pro app like Camtasia captures in what I assume is the raw screen data, and for this

One point missed by the article is the fact that the colour of fruit evolved at the same time as human color vision. This is usually presented as co-evolution, but in the eyes of the article it presents plants co-opting humans to their serv

I can't imagine any 2 pin plug being as mechanically stable as a 3 pin. Certainly here in Asia I am regularly being driven bonkers by 2 pin plugs dropping out of sockets the moment a butterfly shakes its wings on the other side of the

British style sockets/plugs are the best. I find that two pin plugs are always falling out of the sockets. I just had my house in Vietnam fitted out with universal sockets that will accept all plugs tyoes. Life changing decision.

The Sketchfab collection seems to have been set to non-downloadable. The morphsource collection can be downloaded, but only as an image sequence, not as 3D meshes. Fairly easy to convert images sequence to mesh, but I wish they had made the

There is a lot to be said for the academic tradition of only using an acronym/abbreviation after you have first used the complete term.

As the previous poster has implied, An animatic can evolve directly from a storyboard. The frames of the storyboard are placed directly on a timeline (e.g. premier) and sometimes given a few animations (e.g. zoom, pan etc) and annotations.

The thing that animators are talking about is the fact that they eschewed a storyboard in favour of an animatic (an animatic being a motion sketch of the animation). This is the workflow we now recommend to our students. This animatic can b

The most difficult fakes are those illicitly made by the same factory that makes the genuine product (under license). In that sense, they are not even fakes but the license holder doesn’t see any of the profit.
