Yes... some animals paint, when enabled by humans. but painting on its own is just an activity. The way that elephants would have painted 100 years ago is the same in which they paint now. On the other hand, paintings by humans vary accordi

This is beautiful and humbling. An example of a scientist who loved being wrong was Fred Hoyle. Quote: ‘it is better to be interesting and wrong than boring and right’.

Well... I designed the course for the school, but only taught it once. Frankly, it was not a roaring success. One reason was that I was asked to deliver it online. With my recent (obliged) experience in online teaching, I think I could do a

Hmmm. Maybe. But also, some ideas get 'ploughed under' by time. Also, many new ideas require re-stating as they get older.

As a painter, I’m genuinely impressed with the results. However, the system is not capable of taking much initiative. It will reject anything other than a full-face portrait. Of all genres, portraiture is the most convention-driven. For exa

Plus one on the boots. I was 19 when I used a chainsaw for the first time. One month into the job, I was given a pair of steel toecap boots. That was also the day I accidentally ran the saw through my feet. The steel toecaps is the reason I

A camera (or a binocular camera setup) could only ever return depth planes. Lidar returns true 3d forms. Also, depth plane evaluation from cameras is not 100% reliable. Things like reflections, glare and suchlike screw it up.
