I worked for a startup that bought machines from System76. 2 out of 3 were defective and it was next to impossible to get technical support, though this was 7 years ago. My laptop had a bad video chip. My manager's desktop had either a

I don't care about seeing other people's comments, but I'd like to be able to prevent people seeing my comments on other peoples' posts unless it is a mutual friend or something. No matter what it is I comment on, a news

I remember the speech. It had no effect on how much I looked forward to waking up in the morning to go work there.

I used to be a fan of Facebook, but I was never obsessed with it. I even used to work there. I'm over it. It's useful for groups, some of the ads really are useful, it's nice to sometimes keep up with people that are far away

I tie the concepts back to stuff I've done in industry and try to assign homework and projects that teach skills relevant to new technologies or stuff they may do at work. I tend to use "interview questions" to the class and

It's possible that the "newest" ones use photo sensors as they now also double as standard desktop scanners, but I'm not sure they would be marketed as OMR. I suspect Scantron and Pearson NCS won't be around much lo

This is actually how modern Optical Mark Readers ("Scantron") works. The older models from the 1960s used electrical current passed through the paper somehow.

This is a bit more general... I worked there for a very short time as a consultant and I remember Barry. I remember being astonished at some of the things I saw and heard at that company and I am surprised it's not them getting the scr

Yes it can happen both ways: pigeonholed to small or large companies, but I don't believe you're stuck with it. You might have a personal marketing problem, or you might have an interviewing problem. Small companies can be great.

Google left a sour taste in my mouth after my first interview there. Recruiter was a mess. I had one phone interview with no coding questions. My resume could not be more clear that my best language was Python. Yet, every single question th

Disappearing at that altitude, without somebody disabling the transponder, indicates an explosive decompression. These days, that typically only happens with a bomb or a missile. In the older days, structural failure was a common cause (a b

Disclaimer: Aviation hobbyist but not an expert. It depends on the size of the drone and where it hits. I am not sure how large these drones are, but if they have the mass of a flock of large seagulls, say, it could disable an engine (like

Yeah anything with schools is a nightmare. It would be more of a project than a product for me because Zangle and MMS already have the market completely saturated, at least in California.

I love Nest, but this is the exact reason why I have not installed one in my mountain home. I have to keep the heater set at 55 so the pipes won't freeze and burst. A bug like this would be financially catastrophic.

I feel like this would be a worthwhile pursuit, but it would be better as software than hardware. If this were to be a hardware pursuit, you'd have to buy a bunch of sensors, all which have a price tag and their own limitations and iss
