The thing never mentioned in these data points is the sheer amount of fossil fuel exports either. The numbers are staggering when you include them.

They need to make it legal to bring it up in court, it's pretty clear and there's decades of evidence that they are happy to break laws themselves to get the job done, despite caring about privacy I'm not that fussed really.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever, also that's already a phrase used to describe a particular region comprising only of two countries you've mentioned (out of 8+)

He's getting a lot of ripoffs copying his work verbatim, nearly all of it occurs within a few hours of being posted here. None of it has attribution, all are selling ads. Some are copying comments from the threads here and putting them

Much prefer the first letter I type into a browser bar be one in 26 letters, not 3 at best for most of the internet. Would make random tld's in oppressive countries somehow even more desirable than they already are. It's a silly i

In a world of secret court trials, NSL's and parallel construction, there's truly no way to prove this until it's tested in court.

Has a single judge ever faced negative consequences for illegally rubber stamping a warrant? When there's no downside for fucking up your job it's all a moot point.

Every transmission whether data or voice has random noise in it. We both have a shared key, I send you a cat picture over ham radio with the message encoded in the least significant bit of each pixel. How exactly is that going to be detecte

The practical difference is you can send any sort of data with packet radio, how are they actually going to prove you've hidden an encrypted message inside that without the key (preferably symmetric)?

Well you can search his name and "Hacker News" on Twitter. Here's an example: https://twitter.com/BretDevereaux/status/1307080975151697921 Probably the best way to view is searching the headline tho

It doesn't at all of course, but it clearly makes the quality of plagiarised work worse, if you perhaps look into it more you'll see these sites and how they operate. The author has mentioned this before publicly and specifically

What's the difference between encrypted messages and broadcasting random noise? Who could actually prove otherwise without the key?

The last 3 times I've tried to go back to tildes it seems like a massive political circlejerk where dissent is not tolerated. Is there somewhere without politics being jammed down your throat in every thread?

We have "construction robots" already. It's called foreign labour and no one in the West would dare suggest bringing them in for one-off large infrastructure projects regardless of how many cost-benefit-analyses you can get t

The author has a massive problem with people from HN stealing his work without attribution. It's very much in his interest to have a crappy first draft hit the front page here and fix it up after that.

Are you honestly that surprised? People have started to value things like GitHub forks and stars as though they mean something. Create a metric and it will get abused, this is how the world works.

What numerical value would you place on saving 100 lives? Virtually all of them over 80. $500m? $1b? $100b? Just for comparison about 80 young Australians died from suicide this week alone.
