It is not that firebase is bad, it is that most types of data for most types of applications are relational and belong in a relational database People bending document stores to fit every use case are insane.

Traversing trees recursively is so trivial. I have to do this kind of stuff all the time. Just last week actually (in some frontend code no less). Graph search and B-trees I haven't done professionally since I left college though. But

What you are describing is the ascendency of a new third class of people in capitalist systems: the managerial class. Where once you had labourer and capitalist you now increasingly have people with real power derived from their positions w

My gut feeling agrees with you but I would really like more detailed reasons why this is the case. Is memory fragmentation that big of an issue? Are heap allocations more expensive somehow (even if memory is not fragmented yet)? Is there so

There is far more enterprise software than most people realise, everybody complaining about Jira, Salesforce, SAP. It gets much worse once you go to special-purpose/domain-specific enterprise software.

The key difference is that you are not working on the same side project doing the same thing for 40 hours a week for years. You probably change around you side project every few months and likely don't work on them full time.

The solutions you are talking about are called "code-first", TypeSpec is a "schema-first" solution. Both solutions have their pros and cons: Code-first: - No extra steps between code and running application - No mismatch

the whole point of a DSL for APIs is so it can interop with different languages, frameworks and toolchains. Sure if you all your services are NestJS then you don't need this.

Would be nice if you could just import those typespec files in typescript (and other languages?) and get automatic typescript types from them. Codegen is annoying and error prone.

when you set a cookie, by default it sets it at the sub-domain level. You can opt-into setting it at a parent sub-domain (or the root-domain) level if you want. So for example: a.foo.com sets cookie X (Set-Cookie: X=value;) a.foo.com sets a
