While you're right that there are some practical issues with this sort of system, one should also recognize that the patent system doesn't current scale well either. You have to check the claims against every publication in existence. Since

What could it possibly mean for all assets to be overpriced? What could they be overpriced relative to?

As a female founder, the idea of a challenge that separates the women from the girls resonates deeply with me. There are women in my life who've shown such courage and strength and selflessness that I know I could not of as a child, and I h

It might be the field. In our interviewing process we were blown away by four female engineers, 100% of which decided instead to start their own startup -- in cleantech.

I feel like any such discussion must address the fact that, globally, phytoplankton has declined by 40% in the past century. That's 40% of the base of the food pyramid for all ocean life. That's 20% of the plant life in the world, and accou

I'm sorry this miscommunication has caused you so much consternation; I will readily agree it's no iPhone competitor at this time. It may even be a toy. But don't dismiss it. That's all.

Come on. $69 for a handheld touchscreen computer that you can program however you want? You'd have to be incredibly jaded to not reflect about how amazing this is. You'd have to be deliberately ignorant to not be able to imagine things yo

Interesting anecdote: so far 100% of the female engineers we've tried to hire who've turned us down (four so far...) did so in order to try to start their own startup, for at least a while. Of those two (that's 50%) raised outside capital s

I agree. It's very interesting to see. Andressen Horowitz is following a similar model, too. I'm starting a greentech incubator and intend to have engineers/scientists in residence. A certain kind of person just love the technical issues at

To me, baseline trust means that if they squander their first access to capital they do not gain access again. Such a lending strategy would not raise this issue.

Why would a baseline level of trust equate to 100% risk?

I would add -- if you're expecting to make money off this, you're probably better off advertising your own consulting services -- at suitably high rates. You're the expert now... :-)

Every life counts. But I feel like this is only showing one side of the issue. Capital is distilled, economic trust. All human beings deserve a baseline level of trust. As such, access to capital is a human right. Without some form of trust
