For what it's worth, in my experience the people talking about big innovation, actually ARE extremely supportive of genuine, plausible efforts at producing planetary scale improvements. In our case, we're trying to solve the economical en

Imagine test driven development for visual art. How would one write a test for visual art, beyond viewing and comprehending the partially completed work? If one could write a test in advance, one would have made a significant advance: disti

There are good alternatives in the area. LightSail had very good experiences with Innovacorp. Quick and reasonable -- no crazy expenses.

If that were the case, and computing technology were part of the PPP goods bundle, wages would be seen as going UP. The question is, if you subtract computers, why do you not see any improvement? Is this not evidence of a technological slow

People are... completely out of touch with the scale of our industrial infrastructure. Cities us 3% of the Earth's land surface. Fossil fuels inject power into earth at a rate 3x the tides. We intercept about 30% of the total power generati

'Skipping the bullshit' is in fact the lesson I'd like people to draw on. And it doesn't end with school. Too many people are stuck in jobs and relationships and situations they don't enjoy. Get unstuck. Although, I will annotate to your an

Relatedly, Blake Masters was publishing notes from Peter Thiel's startup class. Though they were public, for anyone to see, we were able to read the notes, understand his philosophy, and raise money in an area he'd never invested before.

I do like this cartoon; it's a very nice representation of the problem with the viewpoint. The main issue is that it make frequentist humans look like idiots. They're not. Simply oftentimes lead astray -- as this example illustrates. In par

You have to choose the right materials of course. That's part of it. Then you should avoid too many minerals in your water -- recycle the water in a closed process. Air is nice because you don't have to hold onto it at low pressure :-)
