You can whisper to Siri on your phone or your watch too - that’s not a ring exclusive.

From 2027 onwards the answer will need to be yes, as a result of these standards.

> BLE transmitter to trigger voice input on a watch I suggesting triggering input on a watch, not voice recording on the ring. In my suggestion the ring would be a ‘dumb’ input device.

The power generation portion of that switch is around 1.4x1.4cm and can power the transmitter to send a signal over 40m. I think it’s likely that it could be adapted into a ring form. See: https://core-electronics.com.au/att

It’s my first language. Why is it funny to you? I’m dead serious when I say that “years” implies more than two in almost all contexts. If someone said “that’s years ago” I’d assume 5+. If someone said “it’ll be years before that’s released”

About the only thing I use it for is stopping a timer - it’s great for that.

I feel like this should be promoted or made clearer on the product page - this is how I think many people would prefer to use it, provided it could trigger voice input on the pebble/device/other watch - for example, as a Siri trig

I’d be interested to see a battery-less ring that uses the mechanical energy of the press to power a BLE transmitter to trigger voice input on a watch. I feel like it’s much safer, plus it has no fixed lifespan.

Given that the user will typically have their watch on them as well, why not make the ring a battery-less BLE transmitter that triggers voice input on the watch? It’s still one-handed operation, but now the battery life is infinite since th

I would always say “two” when talking about such a small quantity. “Years” is misleading, as evidenced by many other comments here. “The battery lasts two years”

I almost never want to take a note though, I usually want to perform an action. Recording a note isn’t high friction in my opinion though: “Hey siri make a note XYZ”. Admittedly I don’t create or use notes like this, but I use reminders a l

I have an ultra 2, and I typically hold it about 5-10cm from my mouth when I try to use raise-to-speak. Maybe that approach will help you?

I’m not talking grammar, I’m talking convention. Think of it more like this: If I was selling you a car and said it would last for years, then would you expect it to fall apart after two years? I certainly wouldn’t. When talking about small

I thought you might find it interesting to know that it’s “wont” instead of “want”, when saying “wont to do” https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/wont Also: I agree with your concern

It says two years of average use. “Two” is not “years” in my opinion. “Years” implies at least 3-5.

This makes it a non-starter for me. It feels utterly wasteful, and I’m basically paying USD$100 for a ring subscription every two years, plus international shipping. I can’t support that, sorry.

I’ve never had that issue with my Apple Watch. Granted, apple are a world-class developer (arguably), so their stuff might be more reliable, but I use raise-to-speak and hey siri with my watch all the time.

From memory there was no dedicated event separator, it just went straight from the last character of the event to the first character of the timestamp of the next event. I think there was an XML payload in the event somewhere too? Fortunat

The spiciest file I've ever had to deal with was an 18TB text file with no carriage returns/line feeds (all on one line). It was a log generated by an older Nokia network appliance. I think I ended up 'head'ing the fir

I use google and ChatGPT for totally different reasons - ChatGPT is generally far better for unknown topics, which google is better if I know exactly what I’m after. If I’m trying to learn about a topic (for example, how a cone brake works

Absolutely. MacOS treats the user like a child (Windows isn’t much better, but it is better), and Linux doesn’t have all the domain integration features and breadth of software that Windows brings to the table. I’m extremely comfortable on

Well, kind of.. the commands on Mac OS all just a little bit different and a little bit janky. I still had to relearn all the common commands I use in order to function. I survived 6 months before I went back to a Windows/WSL combo.

It's a failing that I need to pre-empt every situation where I don't want the machine to sleep and run a tool to prevent it from sleeping, when I could usually just say 'don't sleep when I shut the lid'.

I've never used sleep on my laptop. I always have the lid set to 'do nothing' when closed (i.e., stay on and keep running). In the past I gave up on using a macbook for many reasons, but a key one was that I couldn't k
