I worked on these cars this summer at GM. I can't say what model of camera sensors we used for obvious reasons, but the resolution and framerate were not too far off from what Mobileye has in that paper!

It's a combination of sensors and AI. You'd be surprised by how low quality (wrt framerate & resolution specifically) the sensors used in production autonomous features/vehicles are. See mobile-eye's papers and prod

We use it at Berkeley for the first CS class, CS61a. The final project is writing a scheme interpreter in python!

How can early employees defend themselves? What stock structures, if any, fight against this? Is there nothing possible common stock holders can do to protect themselves aside from pray the founders have some shred of morality?

Does this replace Celery+RabbitMQ/Queue service?

A founder's most important duty is to survive and then thrive, in that order, no? Following that, I would argue that YC helps out immensely in other ways more important than financial survival, though the cash helps with the first duty

This is by far the best shutdown of a service I've seen in recent memory. (Though they're still getting a post on 'Our Incredible Journey'[0]) [0] http://ourincrediblejourney.tumblr.com/

Losing soundcloud would be terrible. Half of my music discovery is through soundcloud; Though I find myself listening 80% of the time on Spotify instead, moving over once I find an artist through soundcloud. Soundcloud's mobile app is

Just as facebook and twitter users being, well, good at social media spawned viable careers in social media, the cycle continues with snapchat apparently. Is this the first time this has been done? I'm sure DJ Khaled and other notoriou

by DanFeldman 11y ago
No. If you look at snapchat as one of the most addicting games on the market right now, hidden features make complete sense. They increase the 'skill ceiling' of sorts, and dramatically increase user longevity.

The CA dmv also publicly reports all accidents involving autonomous vehicles [1]. Most accidents are caused by drivers taking over control manually, or by other actors on the road driving erratically (or rear-ending the self-driving vehicle

I took this class (188) from Abbeel, who is now involved in advising OpenAI from YCR. It's an incredibly well structured class, on par with the intro course at Berkeley, 61a. For anyone who wants a relatively fun introduction to core A

This is good. Berkeley's startup ecosystem is lacking compared to Stanford and MIT, I can only imagine its worse at the other UCs. While more specified programs to encourage students to build and try something would be ideal, funding a

This is sort of what the YC Fellowship sought to address, or at least addressed as a byproduct. There's a few companies in the current batch from the midwest/east coast at the 'early development' stage who moved to the b

While there are laws being made[1] to make unwanted car hacking illegal (or explicitly illegal), I don't think there is anything specific in place to peg liability automotive companies beyond the usual safety negligence charges. [1] h

Just to be clear, these fines are for failure to execute prior recalls in a timely manner, not for the recent Jeep hacking recall, correct?

I'm only a rising junior in CS on my second internship and I completely agree. I did really well in my Data Structs & Algorithms class (A+...) and I just hate these types of problems. I bombed Google and Dropbox's interviews,

I absolutely hate the soundcloud app compared to the spotify app. Constant crashing, locks my phone up, random pauses during playback. Android, Samsung Galaxy S4. The UI is fine I just wish it didn't break every other song.

When I was taking a digital electronics course in high school, Minecraft was getting huge. We would spend hours playing and usually try to build the stuff we learned about in class. It was an incredible teaching tool, tbh.
