Well, that might be an ambiguity that needs to be brought up before its final if it is an issue. So if we look at https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ietf-uuidrev-rfc4122bi... For list item #3 it says "Rand

Seeing as how its nearly done, it doesn't change much. It changed more often in the beginning, but its like on its final draft, or near final draft. I think the IETF plans to make final soon.

I am aware, just saying per spec, its supposed to be random bit data, thats all I was saying. I am familiar with a spec since I maintain a UUID library that has 6,7, and a custom 8 implemented. It can have extra monotonicity data instead, p

Ideally, you should version that as UUIDv8. Since that is a more custom implementation, but I guess changing the random bits with type info works fine for UUIDv7, they jsut arent random anymore.

Its been going through drafts and improvements. It's very close to being standardized, and many libraries are supporting it already, or new offerings are being added. For example I maintain the Dart UUID library, and my latest beta maj

Ha, I wish, good catch on the typo, I can't edit, but should have been "mb" It's been so long that thinking of ram in anything other than GB is weird.

I did LFS back when I was a pre-teen/teen. So late 90s, early 00s. And while I agree to an extent that it doesn't give you much day-to-day stuff, it really makes you more comfortable with operating systems and linux especially. No

Ever since I got CoPilot CLI access, it's all I use. I just tell it what I want to do and it spits out a nice CLI command that works 99% of the time with only filename changes.

Doing a quick search for "displaylink Fedora" on brave. These are the first 2 results and look pretty simple: https://github.com/displaylink-rpm/displaylink-rpm (RPMs in releases) https://kcore.org

I would like to mention Magefile. We recently have been using it over makefiles and it has been amazing. Removes more non-go dependencies. You write your files in Go, and it all works really well. https://magefile.org Between th

It's vastly better nowadays. Also with `dnf` RPMs are as easy as DEBs. And some of the commands are similar. I find dnf is even smarter and better at managing dependencies. I only ever run 2-3 commands. `dnd install` `dnf update` and `
