Why keep something secret on a public repo? Is that not an oxymoron? Also, I’m terms of encryption something like age[0] makes it much easier to not shoot yourself in the foot. [0] https://github.com/FiloSottile/age

Dreamweaver or Fireworks. I miss FW so much. It had that perfect blend of vector, bitmap, and text handling. Figma is the closest anything’s come to matching it.

It always amazes me how stackoverflow became expertexchange, the very thing it replaced. Is it just inevitable as something grows?

Do people not track the last used time window of a TOTP and require a newer window for subsequent events? Most libraries I’ve used come with that as part of the interface.

Are the response times from a client point of view? If they’re internal, is 225-375 standard for this kind of stack?

I live by a simple axiom: buy the cheapest of a thing you can get away with. If it breaks, you were using it enough, buy the best you can. If it doesn't break, you either weren't using it enough or it's good enough, so stick

PHP’s had an opcache and jit for several versions now. Combined with preload options, this means startup time is negligible.

We tried roadrunner (similar thing), but couldn't do it without rewriting certain bits of the app (anything with globals basically) whereas unit was a straight swap. My guess would be, if you're properly using the advantages swool

Compared to nginx and PHP-FPM installed on a host machine. All running opcache, JIT etc. Was pleasantly surprised. Note this is up to 40%, not all apps we’ve run have seen same improvement.

Tested this with a moderately complex PHP Laravel app and got a 40% speed improvement. Very useful to be able to run multiple apps each using different lang runtimes/versions without needing separate docker containers.

Had good success using Nginx Unit (distinct from normal nginx) for this. There's a unit-php docker image that can be used.

AFAIK webauthn uses the domain as passed from the browser. So user might see micorsoft.com, but to the device it's a different domain so it won't pass on the keys.

We store a couple million documents in typesense and the vector store is performing great so far (average search time is a fraction of overall RAG time). Didn’t realise you’ve updated to support creating the embeddings automatically; great

This is mandatory in a lot of sites I've been too. Half for safety reasons, half so they can see who knows the rules and who doesn't belong.

A long time ago I mentioned this story to my dad, an engineer of the mechanical kind. He said, in his simple way, why was the system built that way? Why not lift the core up rather than drop the reflector down? If anything goes wrong, the d

We issue separate read-only credentials for database access fortunately. Still doesn't remove the risk of all the data been exfiltrated though.

Perhaps a naive question, but if running metabase within a docker container, what permissions would this RCE have? AFAIK the container has network access and access to the mounted volumes and that's it right?

Absolutely. The whole broken window thing as well; if they see something wrong, anywhere, give them the power to change it. Everything should be versioned so there's no risk of them wiping old information out but also means they'r

We build an LMS, so the first thing we do is get them onboard using it. You only get one first impression, so it's normally really good to see and for them to feel the product as a new customer would. Take lots of notes, find the rough

Is coax still popular in the US (and presumably in other countries)? Over here in the UK I don’t think I’ve seen it used for 10 or so years now as terrestrial TV antennas have fallen out of use. Genuine question as I never even considered i

I am probably in the minority and would get shouted at by a DBA of yore, but I use foreign keys for referential integrity and… that’s it. We use soft deletes for almost all rows, so the whole cascading side is less relevant for us than gett

This is what we’re using. We already sync database content to a typesense DB for regular search so it wasn’t much more work to add in embeddings and now we can do semantic search.
