So, every branch is represented by a file in .git/refs; you’ll find, for example, .git/refs/heads/master alongside any other local branches you’ve created. There’s an analogous tree for remote branches!

For what it's worth, Terminal doesn't do anything special with line breaks on shell prompts. PowerShell, however, might. If you're using powershell, you can escape newlines with `. If git bash, \. If CMD, I don't know wh

Funny enough, I crawled through this exact code to comment on another thread[1] about telemetry in the console, but did so before the code was open-source. The files you're linking to--specifically in terminal/parser--serve to tel

I am fairly certain that the inbox console host supports mouse interaction (with WSL and anything else that uses VT mouse mode). As the engineering lead for the console and terminal projects, though, I’d love to know how else we can improve

The release notes for 6.0 (the release prior to this one) contain: “Added support for using Hyper-V as the fallback execution core on Windows host, to avoid inability to run VMs at the price of reduced performance“ Is that the workaround

I think it’s because the kernel’s module name is “nt”. It’ll show up like that in stack traces on occasion.

Then you won’t have anywhere to store ~/.ssh/rc, and the version you’d put in /etc would still unfortunately apply to all users.

This reminds me of the web browser that shipped with BeOS (1995-2001), NetPositive. It would replace 404-status responses and network errors with haikus. There's an archive of those haikus at https://8325.org/haiku/

I mean, I suppose that the key sequences around copy/paste are technically user input. Those events get processed into telemetry as to whether they were done in processed or raw input mode, and whether Quick Edit was engaged at the tim

Speaking as the engineering lead owning conhost.exe: I can't find anything in our code that would trace user input, or data effectively derived from user input, to even a local event stream. There are a couple instances where we trac

True though this may be, the quoted parent did not say "only macOS allows". They're asserting that on macOS, the only available options are in 90-degree increments.

I couldn't find documentation that supports Clang offering the __builtin_apply intrinsics, but their availability would make a C objc_msgSend somewhat more palatable.

objc_msg_lookup is very emphatically not objc_msgSend. Lookup operates differently from the nominally tail-calling msgSend in that it cannot support transparent forwarding (where the receiver is switched to another object before dispatch.

FWIW, neither did Mach-O in the beginning; the fat magic and fat_arch structs are bolted onto an archive of single-architecture binaries, and they debuted in 2005.
