Sol-Ark’s markup is like 5x the list price just for the official rebadged version. Sol-Arks (“US veteran owned company”) still have the firmware made in China, and are susceptible to Chinese hackers, and had to be bought through a distribu

Azure/AWS provide much more base services (multiple regions/AZs, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, etc) that are pennies to operate and aren't really targeting the cheap low end that Hetzner is.

Blazor Server in an enterprise (intranet) is extremely fast because the network is extremely fast. Across the Internet, it's still quite fast if you use Azure SignalR service, which is effectively a globally distributed CDN. Most comme

I think that’s exactly the wrong impression I get. Private equity is going to cause them to quickly get to better profitability through price increases, layoffs, and reduced R&D.

I’d like to support this, truly I do—I’m a .net fan. But I read the docs. Sisk is supposed to be simple. But the code samples are nearly the same as ASP.NET minimal APIs. Can you clarify why Sisk is better than out of the box .NET?

It seems every major job posting platform gets overran with spam and eventually candidates move to a new platform every ~5 years. First it was CareerBuilder, then Monster, then Dice, and now Indeed is having its day in the sun too. I wonde

Besides the safety issues others have brought up, you'd also have to replace the substations on both sides of the lines to support raising and lower at 2x the voltage. Most likely that would require roughly a 2x size in transformer and

Microsoft Garnet is the only redis fork that actually improves upon it, improving performance by an order of magnitude. Maybe the others will catch up, but it's very "Hacker News-esque" to fail to mention something the larges

Which is why I think Redis (the company) will change the protocol and it will end up fragmenting the community.

Microsoft's Garnet has the best chance of replacing Redis, the OSS project and the hosting company. Article doesn't mention it, but supposedly Microsoft uses novel algorithms and multi threading to achieve an order of magnitude im

Looks neat, but probably only for internal MSFT usage. For what it's worth... Microsoft was quoted in the Redis press release as a cloud provider that has partnered officially with Redis under this new licensing scheme.

I gave up on RavenDB when Oren would post blog entries regarding interviews with candidates, bashing how they would fail his coding exams. I mean who posts that kinda stuff on their public website?

The time savings alone is the yuge factor IMO. People talk about "oh I don't want to spend 15 minutes charging at a supercharger on road trips". Yeah, I'd rather do that once in a blue moon rather than the weekly drive

GCP and Azure have always charged for IPv4 addresses. If anything, AWS was the last of the public cloud providers to provide them for free.

Not exactly. Most of the AWS services you can't release the IPv4 addresses. You automagically get 3 IPv4 addresses assigned to you when you create a load-balancer, even if you want that load-balancer to be IPv6 only. And their native s

$200k+ total comp for a product manager is pretty good. I wonder if previous experience at FAANG is becoming a negative factor in the hiring process. Run-of-the-mill Fortune 500s aren't going to pay Meta money ($475k+) for a product ma

Anybody but me notice the weird wording on safety? "EXCELLENT density" "EXCELLENT performance" "good safety" Does this mean it's more likely to explode than current-gen NMC batteries?

They become illiquid because they don't have access to their money that was in SVB. They can't make payroll, can't pay vendors and landlords. The employees will leave first. Vendors next.
