Started with the idea of generating comics with GPT4 and Midjourney, ended up with an animated show! The results are both surprisingly good and very, very cringe. In this post I explain the basic concept, thoughts? Before you say it: The id

Dead, but we're heading into new a new paradigm of hardware accelerators (encoders, decoders, AI-optimized chips, multi-die GPUs, ...) and new packaging systems (M1 SoC's, GPU Chiplets, ...), all powered by what was previously the

I don't get it. People have been wondering when this would happen since the very first iPad Pro, so lots of people will be happy now... Even assuming all the required horse power is there, I still don't get it... Maybe I'm ge

Layoff was probably 50% accounting for another chunk of people leaving soon after, so that staff reduction will be 60-70% in total. Also, I don’t think the majority of people even work on core products.. for example, did you know Twitter im

Well, we didn't get this one, but at least McHale was free to work on Community!

What is your true objective? What will you be evaluated on? Focus and think of any other improvement you could do. It sounds like management doesn’t think there is an actual problem to solve, so I wouldn’t necessarily pick refactoring or re

Agree… only issue might be managers and supervisors coming from manufacturing in Asia, they will have to re-learn how to treat workers, but I am hopeful

Yeah, but if backpacks ever become available without backorder I might make a single big order next year, who knows!

It's not cheap but it does not seem to be too bad of a value... YouTuber's merch is generally meant to be a way of supporting a show you like, so once you factor that in, I'm happy with the price

They did explain their reasoning behind this during WAN a few weeks ago. In short, they are trying to make shipping price more fair for the average customer (including those oversea, or in remote regions) by making shipping a bit more expen

Most Italian companies do this for Christmas/new years eve, but also for “Ferragosto” 15th of august, some mandating even 2 weeks off!! Italy, as a whole is basically completely shut off during the central weeks in august, with hotel

My former employer mandated that everyone took days off every Friday of July. I happen to live ~2 hours away from the see and 10 minutes away from the lake and in a area with a lot of hiking to do, so that was cool. Still, I can’t picture m

by Curzel 4y ago
Some people use them and some are very, VERY effective. Problem is, that's like for the 1% of what gets sent out. I've been working with iOS apps for 10 years or so now, I've seen apps where push notifications alone drive 20%

I do the opposite... Desktop is always muted, Slack and Email are on a second monitor, so I can check every hour. Phone slack notifications are set only for mentions

You're the first commenter how actually "likes" notifications it seems... What apps other than IM/email/calendar/... do you allow?

by Curzel 4y ago
Yeah, fair and simple advice! Mine was not a complaint about productivity per se, I just can't be bothered clearning them or picking out the ones I need, but I understand where you're coming from.

by Curzel 4y ago
Interesting, so you also use features like focus modes?

Desktop in particular bugs me... I would love to see usage stats of the macOS notification "area", I'm pretty sure it is only ever tapped by mistake... Well, at least I am not alone, thanks! haha
