As an ESL teacher myself I sympathize with you. For real, it's frustrating how people [more like parents] just expect to send their kid to a private academy after school [more like 3-4 academies] 2x/3x a week and just expect them

> Buy jewelry and fancy things for yourself. Ugh, "awesome life advice". Treating yourself well doesn't necessarily involve buying things. Consumer culture really is quite insidious. No, I don't need some friggin jewe

No, it isn't up for debate. Free speech is only an unalienable right, in the US, from the government. Not facebook, not google, and certainly not individuals suing a private entity. Everything else stems from the public and historical

Yeah, but they are side by side here, and not in handwriting.. If you're not careful in handwriting it'd be real hard to tell the difference.

It's not about laughing, it's about being disorderly. Has little to do with "free speech", stop click baiting.

If it was substantiated there would be evidence. I see nothing beyond inane things that aren't worth this fuss. It seems like another example of CoCs being used maliciously to hunt someone out of bias.

Once someone drags your name through the mud in public , it's well past the point of having a private chat. His behavior isn't a huge red flag in the slightest; he's responding to what's essentially a public attack of h

Good, let the reasonable folk settle in DE / the US instead. Not folk who read too much sensationalized news. There may be problems but being unstable isn’t one of em.

Downvote if you want. Being smart in programming or business stuff doesn't mean you understand linguistics. Organic language does not adhere to logical rules. Many people (who don't actually study language or the evolution thereof

> To Systrom, it’s pretty simple: Freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to shitpost. His network isn’t a public square; it’s a platform people can choose to use or not. When pressed on the matter, he asks, “Is it free speech to ju

The “correct usage” is what’s commonly used by people, not what’s technically correct. If people use dwarves, then it’s correct to use it regardless of origins. It’s the same thing with the whole octopus plural thing. Both octopi and octopu

> anything to do with RTS Managing farming times and item spikes is part of the strategy. Of course it's not a true RTS, but I think that term is a bit better than MOBA; I'm also biased against Riot.

Some people dislike that term. Many people in the dota community prefer ARTS over MOBA. Though yes, technically it’s a MOBA; many other games could be MOBAs because it’s fairly vague.

Sometimes people prefer to label dota as an ARTS: Action Real Time Strategy. Some people dislike the MOBA nomenclature because it comes from Riot (maker of League of Legends; a clone of dota). In addition the term is pretty vague. Call of D

Bad. Lossy -> Lossy transcoding will always introduce artifacts. Unless the origin source is lossless. (Actually lossless, not a file someone transcoded to a lossless format from a lossy origin)

This year, GitHub did that for a conference, letting people submit talks and compete for selection completely stripped of identifying info. The only people selected were men. That conference was canceled because it didn’t stand with Github’

This is new? Um... Also for mobile styling, there should be some padding / margin on the sides. I have to zoom out to see the whole text and it’s tiny as a result.

Do you understand the situation with Gawker at all? The “chilling” effect is really just not publishing private sex tapes (just for views, mind you) and refusing to take them down when ordered to... also not outing gay people. In other word

I imagine it’ll happen eventually. Maybe not to the same extent, but not everyone wants to pay exorbitant costs or live on the west coast... I’d gladly take less money and continue to live / set up a business in Chicago.

I’m not sure, but I can’t imagine that many users really wanted it. Or cared. I have a minor in acoustic recording/physics so I fully understand the lossless desire for some people, but we’re a minority. My counterpoint: I use Spotify

Yes. It would be unmanageable otherwise with multiple clients. Why would I give up my time + work for free? Hosting is an easy up sell because it becomes one less thing a client would have to worry about.

Yeah pal try that in the US. Public transit is straight up impossible in many, many areas because few places offer transit that’s actually good enough for never using cars... Good luck reliably getting an Uber in Hicksville, SC or anywhere
