Back when i was using iMac as my "watch" computer, i was simply changing the text background color of whatever i was watching to green in Finder. The feature to tag and color any file is really something that i miss in Explorer (i

I also like the Win95 aesthetics, though last time i checked Gtk+ does support Windows' theme engine (not 100% perfect but 99.9% is there). At least Gtk+ 2 does, did that change with Gtk+ 3?

IMO even games that go for realistic graphics end up stylized, mainly because the technical limitations do force those styles (e.g. many PS2 games tried to be realistic but the lack of pixel shaders means they had to paint the lighting on t

A bit of both. The base OS itself provides way more functionality out of the box than Linux (imagine an asterisk here) and that is done through APIs that have remained backwards compatible going back to Windows 95 (of course new stuff got a

As another "outlier" who doesn't mind panning around to read an article (though i do prefer if i don't have to), do you have a source about the behavior of those fabled "most people"?

I was thinking about being able to write regular HTML with code <?php ... ?> and variable expansions like <?=$foo?> with uses like having a for loop over stuff (like, e.g., table records) and inside the body including another PH

Chances are, just like modern internet took advantage of old communication technology (telephone wires) to spread, the "next" internet will take advantage of the "current" one.

The Windows vs Haiku case you describe is mainly a difference in terms of development culture. In Windows you can get similar fast performance and responsiveness by using the native GUI functionality, but most desktop applications nowadays
