What are some examples of well maintaned/upgraded software, if any, that you know of?

That's awesome. I had a similar one back in the day. Yeah, the phablet trend is a bit silly, but I guess to each his own, right? What would your ideal feature phone be if you could redesign it?

I do miss it sometimes, but after that initial FOMO the urge quickly disappears. For me, it helps to know that i'm simply unable to endlessly scroll through Twitter or whatever else. I do still use social media while on my computer a

Yeah that's a tough one being on-call. Think you need a smartphone. Or setup some IFTTT triggers to notify you via SMS for emergencies. Sorry I don't have a better suggestion!

Honestly, the easiest way for me is to just use a "dumb" phone. I switched to an old Nokia and love it. I also use the SMS search engine Text Engine ( http://www.textengine.info/ ) if I ever need to look up an addre

Love low bandwidth versions of sites. I use http://thin.npr.org most of the time and it's great.

Anyone know the status of the smart feature phone os they were talking about a few months back? I can't find anything on it but am interested in the project.

It's not about the money. It's the access to some of the smartest people on the planet. I think (from what I can tell) that YC is invaluable to any stage startup.

That's amazing. Love that you practice what you preach with respect to keeping spend low. Have you shared more details about where your money goes?

Hi from Chicago @sama! You guys have been talking about your investments in HW startups. What are the top 3 things that you look for in a hardware startup application at YC?

Completely agree with this and I think the model of an application that accesses data is the only one I will trust going forward. Great example of this is Scrivener. I can have my files locally stored or in the cloud, but Scrivener just acc

Agreed. The best part is in the experience. I love finding old records that used to be my grandpa's. Seeing his handwriting on the records on liner notes makes me feel like i'm sharing the experience with him. Digital can never re

Ben wrote about Kickstarter traction != product-market fit. What're your thoughts on this? What would you want to see from a startup that has a somewhat successful crowdfund campaign before you would invest?

Exactly. Non-Android. So either bring up an RTOS or something else on the chip or simply customize their UX layer to make it seem like a different OS. No worries! Thanks for responding :)

Thanks for this. Really interesting. Might be a longshot, but you seem like a person that might know :) Do you know of anyone that has taken a MediaTek chip and customized the OS for a simple phone implementation?
