I think it was flagged because the original article was posted back in March[0] and this is viewed as a reposting. However, the article has been updated and I think it's perfectly fine to re-post something from over 6 months ago. I c

I think you're looking for something like the pHash[0] library. I've used it in the past for thumbnail generation and it works very well. [0] http://phash.org

You could possibly use a perceptual hash[0] to compare images. While building an image processing application I used the pHashion library to compare thumbnails to their originals to make sure it still looked "the same" to humans.

I think hashing pictures and storing the results to compare with future uploads is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. This is the same thing that is done with CP pictures and for much the same reason. The only thing that makes me nervous

@dang, can we get the title changed for this story? The original was "Facebook’s testing a new method to prevent revenge porn that requires uploading your nudes" which seems more descriptive and helpful.

Agreed! However, I must note that Netflix doesn't use AWS (or any cloud provider) for streaming content. Everything you're watching on Netflix is streamed from one of their own NAS boxes located in or around your ISP. AWS is us

I looked into using their Enterprise product for my employer about 6 months ago. It seemed to be a nice product but was shockingly expensive compared to its counterparts in the space. Also, when they say "enterprise" they meant

This Joel On Software article[0] is my favorite work on compensation. It details a ladder system that exposes everyone's salary as well as the requirements to move up. The lack of individual bonuses is an interesting twist and I'

I've always assumed that if Apple was really serious about the TouchBar they would have created an external keyboard with it.

I was thinking the same thing. If they don't it might be time to replace my Airport Extreme. I love it and it works flawlessly, but if they don't provide updates it's worse than not having WiFi at all.

When the new MBP was introduced a year ago a big part of the demonstration was targeted toward professionals and how they would use the new Touch Bar. Where is the Touch Bar for this professional machine? The new keyboard would be a perfe

This is some pretty outstanding insight. I work with middle school kids to get them excited about computers and programming and it's amazing how many of the ones that "get it" are not the ones you would pick. Frankly, I thi

I've always thought it curious as to why AWS requires people to relocate to one of their offices. My understanding was that one of the major benefits of the cloud (aka AWS) was to free companies from having to hire locally.

It doesn't surprise me that the new MBP with touchbar is selling well; there really isn't an option if you want a large(ish), desktop replacement machine. I bet if they had one with and one without it would be a different story.
