I'm currently using a mix of Remember the Milk (mostly near-term tasks) and Trello (general notes/planning) to great success. Even if I never look at the board again, it's there and not rattling around in my head. I've also started using a

iPhones don't support WiMAX at all; the 4[s] on Sprint/Virgin will only ever hit EVDO. There's a reason Sprint and Verizon were so much faster to market with WiMAX and LTE vs. AT&T and T-Mobile; EVDO doesn't age nearly as well as HSPA.

Why not take the 'nuclear launch' method? Every time someone's about to de-list [large number] of pages, a second human has to confirm it. (This is presuming humans were involved at all)

I nearly never use Google Drove on my Chromebook outside of things I'd have in Drive anyway (Docs, etc). The only 'hard' ties to Google in ChromeOS are logins, updates, and a special Drive interface. I also don't treat it as a computer, jus

A note: disabling the 'Instant extended API' in chrome://flags gives you the old new tab page back. (I can see the reasoning, but personally think it's ugly and a waste of space. Then again, I never liked having Google as my homepage to beg

It's doubtful the average user wants to run their own server. I'm certainly capable of running my own, but it's more than worth the $24/yr not to.

I'm led to believe there's some kind of regulation preventing phones from updating without user intervention, given the 'you will not be able to make emergency calls' prompt most phones seem to show on an update.

Lua is it's own killer app. It's an excellent choice for embedding, both from a technical (small, pure ISO C codebase, no dependencies) and legal (MIT license) standpoint.

In a similar incident, once a long time ago, I was asked to put an English copy of Win31 on an old NEC laptop running the Japanese version. No one involved was aware that the NECs of the time[0] weren't quite typical PCs. [0] http://en.wik

Not all of these were developed as cross-platform from the start. AFAIK, Humble actually reaches out to game developers to help nudge along ports on other platforms for the bundles (to what extent exactly I'm unclear on).

The BlackBerry the app was written for _is_ a dying platform: BlackBerry 10 has zero compatibility with the original BlackBerry OS's apps.

Seems it'd be much more useful to be able to have a commit hook POST the app's Gemfile to your service instead of doing everything via GitHub, unless there's something I'm missing?

Not a full environment; just enough of one for average web development (meaning vim/emacs, git, ruby/nodejs/etc, NaCl compiler, and associated debuggers), a small enough set to be vetted by Google and run at low privilege while still lettin

I've got a Chromebook sitting to the right of my keyboard, and routinely use it as an SSH terminal (that and the keyboard is exactly why I have it). Remote is sufficient, but not always desirable (not just offline, latency can get in the wa

IMHO, all it needs for a decent developer environment is semi-sanctioned shell access and a package manager. I've been using the age-old SSH+tmux combo fine, all that's really hurting me is latency. I'm kind of surprised Google hasn't taken

Either after flipping the dev-mode switch and running a chroot or such (thus being outside CrOS's use case), or using it entirely as a thin client (which doesn't need this kind of horsepower).

You can't build for NaCl from CrOS, and as it stands you don't have the toolchain (editors, debuggers, shells, etc) one's used to on other platforms. I understand a $400 phone not being able to run it's own toolchain, a $1300 computer less

All but one previous Chromebook has shipped with 16 (exception being the Acer, which uses an ordinary HDD), and the amount is almost entirely a non-issue for normal use. Which would add to my theory ChromeOS could be moving past the "just a

That is one beautiful laptop (note that it's not 16:9 either). I feel like we're missing something, there's no way Google would be blind enough to build such a powerful machine (vs existing Chromebooks) that's so limited by the OS. There's

What's wrong with putting the second auth method (fingerprint, passcode, whatever) on the car itself? Likely much more durable and keeps the key itself simple.

And why should the developer have to care if I want to send something via Gmail, Skype, or carrier pigeon? As long as Android abstracts the data properly within the Intent, the target app should be irrelevant.

And if the NYT ever got a hold of any reasonable evidence of doing so, at best (for Tesla) it'd ruin Musk's credibility and at worst they could turn it into libel charges of their own. Plus being publicly traded, I believe the SEC might hav
