In Tetris, you are supposed to have a "bag" of five tetrominos that are drawn from in random order. You can see the tetromino falling down and which one is coming next, and you know the one after that must be one of the remaining

I recently played Emacs tetris, and I was confused by how the tetrominos were selected so I dove into the source code to impress my boyfriend. It turns out that the tetrominos' behavior is configurable with a defcustom, but by default

I used to be excited about printing data layouts the way DDD or Rizin do it, but lately I've been getting into GDB pretty printers. They aren't very difficult to write (once you grasp the basics of the GDB API and compiler debug i

I love pwndbg. I work at the level of writing syscalls often, and it's wonderful that pwndbg's disassembler pretty-prints the operands of syscalls write next to the actual instruction.

QBE has no support for SIMD last I looked into it, so I don't think it would be appropriate for an SPMD language. https://todo.sr.ht/~mpu/qbe/5 It's common for shader compilers to invent their own IR, li

Not really. LLVM does support compute mode SPIR-V, and _very_ recently graphics-mode SPIR-V which is being dogfooded by the highly WIP HLSL front-end in Clang (I couldn't get a trivial fragment shader to build with it a few weeks ago).

I recently implemented a runtime for `__builtin_cpu_init()`, `__builtin_cpu_supports()`, and `__builtin_cpu_is()` for x86-64. Using these compiler intrinsics, or a higher level feature such as `[[gnu::cpu_dispatch]]`, you can write function

Clang supports C11 - 23 in C++, as well as some future C features like fixed-point integers. The main pain points with Clang are just the fundamental differences like void* and char, which don't typically matter much at an interoperabi

There already exist many affine-typed languages with fewer features than Rust. When you phrase it like "Rust but with weaker type safety and higher-overhead abstractions" one might see why this premise fails to gain much traction,
