It doesn't inspire much confidence in the study when it doesn't even acknowledge the pervasive issue of astroturfing online.

Total strawman argument. Nobody is suggesting bringing back turn-of-the-century industries. When people talk of keeping jobs, they are talking about high tech manufacturing jobs. When a company is deciding where to build it's next manu

Are you suggesting when Obama added Iraq to the list he was lying about what information they share? North Korea is not on the list because literally nobody is travelling from North Korea to the United States.

Overpaid? We're paying people $30M a year to throw a ball into a hoop, and we're paying other people millions to recite a few lines in a movie. Why shouldn't engineers, part of a class of worker that arguably brings much more

The problem is that we ever believed the nonsense that there's some information source that is NOT a product, complete with biases and agendas. The day the printing press was invented was the day print journalism was subverted to push

It's not at all inevitable that we have to allow the hiring of mass amounts of immigrants. Why do you think it's inevitable?

You can argue it does indirectly. If blue collar job wages are driven very low, more people will choose STEM careers, which will also serve to drive IT job wages down.

On the second point, it's easy to see why people are critical of Obama - since he did nothing on this front during his 8 years. As for Trump, at the very least he has talked about H1B reform, and if he does reform it, then who cares wh

>Many of those hired on H1B are doing roles for which they simply can't get enough local talent This is the scam they want you to believe, but it's being abused to simply keep wages low. It's very easy to post fake job ads

H1B reform has been talked about for going on a decade now. The fact that Trump wants to tackle this in no way represents a "divide and conquer" tactic.

Do you need anything more than government should be enacting the will of its citizens? Seems to me that's the most principled stance one can take.

The history of the United States largely revolves around subverting workers. Are you seriously doubting that large corporations want to drive wages down? Let's not forget that that Silicon Valley was the epicenter of the largest wage f

No, but we can vote for politicians who promise to reform or do away with the H1B program altogether. Are you suggesting Americans shouldn't vote for their own interests?

Perhaps it has something to do with the institutionalized abuse of the immigration system in order to import workers who are paid less and are far less likely to leave or demand higher wages. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

It's something employers do because they can't fill those jobs... [at the slave wage offered] That last part is rarely, if ever, mentioned when the "locals won't do these jobs" nonsense gets trotted out.
