Neat, I love how git has these tools that are so clearly targeted at 'I did this before' developer problems. Hey, I keep having to repeat this exact same merge, let's automate that. A similar problem is 'When did this br

I really like the realtime feedback idea, similarly you could always show how many additional dots are needed (e.g. the starting counts are correct and count down as you add visible blue dots in it's line of sight), 0 is blank, negativ

Interesting. I feel that "intellectual property" already penalizes people for innovating. It supports the original creator directly, but it prevents all the other innovators from creating more work in the same direction that is in

Except that we don't track those numbers, so it could be that earlier in the recession more people were recently out of work, and looking hard, meaning they were counted in this number. Right now, it's been a lot longer, so perhap

I think the title was perhaps a misnomer, and it's distracting from the message. The author is arguing that we are miss-framing the literacy involved in programming, and that the real literacy is modeling. He's specifically compar

'the ski game' is likely Ski Free. Delightfully, the author has created a 32 bit version of the game, if you want to run it on your modern desktop. You can also download the 16 bit original version. Considering the simplicity of h

Such a wonderful essay. It's very applicable to the teaching of computer science/software engineering as well. So much of the problem is the misunderstanding people have about the field. It's a creative, constructive discipli

It's good to see responsible public disclosure of such vulnerabilities so that vulnerable users can take steps to protect themselves. Bravo. I wonder when the company will issue a patch for this, and what form it might take...

This is an amazing approach to making some hard-to-understand aspects of software more visible. This sort of improved information is how software process and tools evolve over time. I look forward to seeing where this project goes.
