Sure you can do everything with a library, and that's how you end up with library hell, or dependencies that will be hard to get rid of or replaced later, because how big they become or how broken the API was (e.g. fontconfig). But bei

This might have something to do with the GPU you use. Alacritty spawns instantly for me on AMD GPU with mesa drivers.

It's technically possible to create a wayland compositor without GL/GLES/Vulkan, but only SHM clients will work, unless you go with mixed approach which wouldn't be zero-copy. (Or of course you could also use llvmpipe or

I agree with you completely to the extend that I feel like world has grown little bit weird recently. "White supremacy" is especially ironic, considering there's countries where white people were oppressed and sold as slaves

Looks more like shaded art to unshaded lineart rather than sketch. Sketches are usually way more messy, like a blueprint for the final product.

Now do tiling wm and package manager (with easy source builds from recipes) and it'll start to become a decent OS.

While i want static linking, i would still use package manager for convenience and because it provides some form of curation. (Packages in repos are usually not malicious)

Thats good to hear. Darling devs also went with kernel module approach. Its weird wine devs did not do the same until now. Wineserver is nice but as we see, its sometimes impossible to do accurate emulation of some apis there. https:/

The protobuf itself as format isnt that bad, just the default implementations are bad. Slow compile times, code bloat and clunky apis / conventions. Nanopb is much better implementation and allows you to control code generation better

There might be reasons for everything, but all those reasons soon become irrelevant when you try to merge a code that also changed the project file. Have fun. Xcode project generators at least solve this somehow, but they'll always pl
