Not sure if we continued to improve from plan9, it's more like features were copied from plan9 but due to the fundamental differences in the foundation they aren't really the same and requires boilerplate to be actually usable.

With NixOS, you typically use flake.nix or shell.nix to "shell into" development environment so this is kinda non issue. You can also use `nix run` or `nix-env` to mix traditional package management and this. > but it's go

The less I have to touch the java ecosystem the more happy and productive I become ... Also managing multiple codebases sucks. Still have to write the native parts in their native languages but it's better than the alternative.

You can do everything without flakes as well by using fetchTarball, fetchGit etc, with shasums, but flakes just improves the ergonomics. Because of the lock files, flakes are also faster, especially nice if you use nix develop (the new nix-

That must be painful unless you write foreign sentence just a few times a day. I'd install IME at that point, which basically gives you switchable keyboard layouts. たとえば、日本語をCOMPOSEキーで書いてみたら?

This is the reason why just using local layout (or modification of it) makes the most sense. The keys are where they are for good reason. That said do you ever really need å or Å in finnish layout?
