Maybe. I think that strengthening laws that force servers to be more diligent would be unpopular (especially with this crowd), but it's a lot different from forcing backdoors. The idea of backdoors needs to be drawn and quartered, and

Yup. Seen that, too. But there’s a lot of room between “perfect,” and the "quality" of most of today’s tech, and I worked for a company that routinely shipped gear that had a very high level of Quality. I’ve watched people u

Sort of the antithesis of "Move fast and break things." I find it quite reasonable, but also despair that this advice even needs to be given. It's just basic "horse sense." https://i.pinimg.com/736x&

Love it. The German language has words for almost anything; especially if it’s cynical. I’m told that’s because the language is designed to synthesize words. I wouldn’t know. I don’t speak German (but I speak English, which has German roots

Ah. That makes sense. I would think that "Mac apps," means that they are, actually, a different OS (I actually already knew that, which was why I said what I said. The Intel thing was a spitball). But one of the few joys geeks get

The simulator is a completely different OS. It may even still be using Intel. I always figured that Apple never set up a true emulator (like what Android does), because they didn't want people exploring their OS with a debugger.

Sadly, it seems that the lesson from this, is to keep your repos private. I am not a fan of that, but I think many folks will take that away from this.

I think it may depend on where you are. Around here (Long Island, NY), it's far better than Google Maps, and I use it all the time. I've heard that it falls down, in rural areas, though.

Oh, I don't really do much more than have feedback loops, where I review the output, then ask for things like less verbosity, or a lower-level vocabulary, etc. I like to apply this at each application, rather than make a blanket rule,

I run a 2012 MacBook Air 11” for Zoom meetings. It’s stuck on Catalina, but it runs fine. If I really wanted (which I don’t), I could probably hack it to run newer operating systems. I know there’s a few ways to do that.
