I dunno. If AWS went away suddenly, or if Google Search/the G-Suite suddenly stopped existing, the internet as we know it would need some time to recover.

Even if this is the case, why does it matter? If the explicit goal is to create a human intellect, then sure, there's a really interesting conversation there—one that is happening constantly in the DL/AI research community, in whi

There is something deeply ironic about this author's righteous indignation over "intellectual dishonesty." Looking at the first chart offered, comparing Kentucky and Tennessee, the chart interestingly begins in December of 20

There certainly are tasks where a 2% failure rate is fine, but even more importantly, where we see ML/DL having the biggest impact today is in regards to complex system-type problems, where there is often a less-than-discrete notion of

Similarly, I remember taking a handful of courses there many years ago. They were very high quality relative to what was available then. I wonder if their particular niche of online education is tougher nowadays. There seems to be a wealth

Texas is a big place, and as far as I'm aware, doesn't make it a policy to train individuals to be vigilantes. If your anecdote proves anything, it is the relative safety of that liberal area of PA. The fact that a manager of a Wa

Not arguing that there isn't probably a level of bloat at Uber, but the complexity of Uber's product is a lot more than other commenters are implying here. Their ML platform alone seems like a monster: https://eng.uber.

I don't know if that's actually a moat. It's fairly common in my experience to have Uber and Lyft downloaded, for example, to compare rates, particularly when surge pricing comes into play.

Last time I was in NYC, I used Uber-for-taxis Curb app, which I found to be consistently cheaper and largely interchangeable UX-wise with Uber (upfront fares, ride tracking, driver rating, etc). In NYC at least, Uber offered me as a user no

That is not the original bargain. The decision to not recognize a state religion was a part of US political policy from very early times. In 1797, the treaty of Tripoli stated "The Government of the United States of America is not, in

I think an automatic alert (which can be set to ignore by the user) which flags such links, and offers the option to turn on a config flag which enables URL manipulation like this, would be a good compromise.

This. As with many things in applied ML (although, importantly, not all), the question of "is x useful?" comes down to the scale at which you're operating.
