From a purely technical standpoint, I agree completely. However, given the debacle around USB-C cables & PD, I'd be very worried about a world where I have to trust devices to properly handle such high voltages.

Whole-home PoE for lighting might be another interesting approach! In either case, you'd need a very beefy DC power supply somewhere to get enough current, or individual power supplies scattered inside walls, etc. which sounds like a m

LED filament bulbs do indeed use a driver circuit. Some use a voltage above mains [1] while others drive the LED chain around mains voltage but in a smoother regulated way [2]. Sometimes there's just a basic dropper cap circuit, though

Why is it "incredible"? The Democratic Party is not left-wing, nor is it even left-leaning by international standards.

Yes. Companies can refuse to negotiate with unions (and accept the consequences of severely narrowing their access to the labor market)

Assuming you're not hit directly, those 'shell scrapes' are excellent for protecting against conventional explosives and associated shrapnel, though.

Seattle is just 20 miles from NBK as the crow flies. It's reasonable to assume the entire region will be carpet-bombed until completely sterile. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Base_Kitsap "It is the home

Not pictured: everything is connected to mains voltage. The salt water bucket is just a huge current-limiting resistor to prevent tripping breakers or starting a house fire. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_rheostat

Only dangerous if you grind/crush the very obvious pink ceramic and inhale the dust. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berylliosis Modern magnetrons tend to use alumina-based ceramics instead.

It's excess pulse duration coupled with insufficient current. Capacitors can dump all their energy almost instantly (on the order of 1000s of amperes), but transformers are much more current-limited due to their design. It's analo

Current availability is not a guarantee of current delivery. I (current) = V (voltage)/R (resistance) Typical skin resistance can be as high as 100MΩ (mega ohms) but is often cited as 10MΩ. Even if we assume just 1MΩ (1000000 ohms) ski

It's less dangerous than servicing CRT televisions/monitors. If you know how to safely discharge the big capacitor and never try to energize (or dismantle) the magnetron, it's pretty benign.

The most dangerous thing here is energizing a MOT with its stock deadly high-voltage secondary coil. If you re-wind the secondary to be low voltage as described in the video, it's no more dangerous than any other project requiring a ma
