Sounds similar to a problem that happened a couple of weeks ago in Madrid, although that was not the whole network it pretty much shut down the trains for the day. That was an IT failure too. https://www.20minutos.es/noticia

Thanks, I've been checking on project layouts, and I have mine definitely wrong / weird. Which is probably why I've made life difficult for myself.

Nah, I wish it were it that easy. There is definitely more yak shaving involved. "go mod init" returns the error "go: cannot determine module path for source directory". "go mod init src/mything/mypackage&

I have a go thing I wrote that I hadn't touched for years but had the misfortune to need to modify it recently, and the way to migrate from $GOPATH/src/ to go.mod is not really clear (to me at least). To build this thing, the

It can be, yeah, it just ground me down in the end. Deciding to stop was a huge weight off, I can only imagine the stress someone running a big successful project must feel.

It isn't nice though, as the maintainer. I gave up on doing any kind of open source stuff probably a decade ago for way less than screaming. Just getting bug reports is depressing, it was a relief to walk away and never have to think a

The EU directive kind of fizzled out because of Covid. It was meant to be decided in 2021, this year we were not going to change the clocks. But the negotiations are stuck in bureaucratic limbo. I don't really mind moving the clocks tw

Don't get me wrong, it was an excellent write up! Maybe my comment reads snarkier than I meant it :) My personal take away would be update my resume even if I'm not looking for a job. I've not interviewed for so long that my

As I was reading this it reminded me of a playthrough of Ultima IV. Grind a bit in the Swamps of Leetcode so you're high level enough to get past the Dungeon of Algorithms.

I occasionally find myself going in a feed-refresh cycle between apps. Anything new in this reddit group? What about RSS on theoldreader? Nope, HN? Podcasts? Oh well, back to reddit. It's almost impossible to pull myself out of, it has

I had not heard the 28-day trailer yet. I imagine all this is the beginning of the penny pinching after the recently announced reduction to the BBC's funding. We should probably just be grateful any of these are available at all, they

The submission title seems like an exaggeration, for now at least. They seem to have just removed the old podcast portal, and moved the RSS feed links to other places, the links themselves haven't gone away. Many of their podcasts stil

One Americanism I've noticed a lot is "sure" replacing "yes". It happens all the time in interviews and stuff on podcasts, TV, etc. Where did that come from? Now some British people podcasts have started doing it. I

I got in the habit of setting an alarm on my phone for 5 minutes after I put the pot on. Even if I think I'm going to stay in the kitchen and watch it, I set the alarm. It's amazing how I get distracted, forget that I put the damn

It's a mess of copyright for sure. I doubt you could really exercise your rights as a 3rd party with the GPLv3 there. e.g. if Debian or Ubuntu were to include the game then they would be on shakey ground for redistributing copyrighted

Yeah, sounds that way, if it's almost literally the same code rejiggered to build as C. A proper clean-room rewrite effort would be so much slower. You'd need one guy in IDA decompiling/understanding, then explaining the desi

Do the enthusiast devs have a legal leg to stand on? The repositories cited - like the re3 one on github - don't contain the original GTA3 game assets. It's all "new" code that runs the original game assets, or emulation

One big reason I prefer gas over electric for the stove top at least, is that all modern electric hobs have these awful unresponsive touch controls, to give the overall stove that totally flat look. Tap tap tap to go from 1-9, where every 2

Yeah, it's hard enough to do the thing, let alone create a great video about it! I recently put sealant in the bathroom around the shower, etc, and it looked easy on the (pro) videos I saw, but it was a pain to do. I'm sure seeing
