Racial and political ideologues are everywhere including in schools and they have tremendous influence. One can lose their entire livelihood if they were found to have "wrongthink" by these ideologues. Is there a place on earth

FYI the doas ports you added are poorly maintained. The nholstein repo clearly states: This repository temporarily unmaintained. And the slicer69 project has had some insecure code added in the past: https://xn--1xa.duncano.de&

Ah yes the CSAM exemption: your encrypted data might be a crime, so I have to read it. Maybe we should just assume that potentially illegal encrypted data is not worth searching foreigners on the border. Again, if someone wanted to share CS

The thing is you don't want Linus's kernels unless you are a kernel developer or testing something. Greg KH maintains the stable kernels. You want his branch.

I'd love to see examples of these RNC fundraising emails that were flagged as spam... I've read candidate statements in ballot books and some candidates have a certain way of writing that comes across as REALLY spammy and, frankly

Every user I know who has left Ubuntu has cited snaps as a push factor. And their only mention of snap in this post is to say that they are fixing a regression from native Chromium? Tone deaf.

I think this is referring to using an encryption key from the TPM so that you can get to a login screen without having to type in your encryption password. (And your login credentials would then unlock your encrypted home directory).

My initial reaction was one of suspicion, but the story as it was laid out seemed pretty persuasive. One detail that swayed me was the reported lack of fossils in Africa of early hominin species: While the remains of early hominines are ab

This is assuming that when offshoring, it is only the medium of communication that changes. Language barriers, dialects, and social norms can all be quite different when offshoring. The local worker, even if they are working from home, is s

I read it from an egoist perspective and I think it actually makes sense. Not sure in which way you are using the word irony, but if by the technical literary definition, yes I agree. Ironic.

Did you accidentally register as a business instead of an individual? I can't imagine why that happened, but I can say that my registrations have never been flagged and have always been straightforward.

I think the onus is on Verisign to justify their price increases, not the consumer if the monopoly. So far I've seen them hand waive about inflation and "demand for domains". As of 2022, their operating margin was about 65%..

I'm not sure what you're claiming here. Namecheap has asserted continuously that they do not front run domain registration, and they only charge premium prices for domains when the registry demands it.

This comment breaks it down. Namecheap is using the opportunity to sneakily increase their markup, which is a bit underhanded IMO. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37213773

Also are Ford dealers not doing very similar anticompetitive things? Demanding high markups over msrp for electric vehicles, or refusing to offer them altogether, for example.

I think because the Verisign price increase is only 7%, and presumably namecheap has a margin on top of that. So increasing the price by 9% and blaming the registry could be considered unreasonable.
