I'm not really sure where these analytics programs are falling in the scheme of things. The usual advice is go CS or stats instead. As far as salaries, it's not too difficult to get 100k in the midwest. More on the coasts.

There's a pretty big difference between AI researcher and applied Data Scientist. Most companies don't need to develop novel algorithms, they just need to be able to apply what's already available. Fortunately, the applied D

There are tons and tons of meaningful uses for the current state of ML. Just about every industry is full of opportunities to apply the most basic algorithms and drive tremendous value. It goes without saying that research is still valuab

I agree. As long as thousands of hospitals and clinics agree on, and use, a standard. Edit: Which is a pretty big caveat.

You're thinking of the older HL7 message types. FHIR is a newer xml/json standard that's much more programmer friendly.

Those hospital systems are non-profit. Not that there aren't ways to spend new revenue on buildings and equipment, but at least there's less profit motive.

There's a keto version called keto chow. There are recipes online as well as pre-mixed packages to buy. I don't know that the study used this exactly, but it's the same idea.

This is such a tired argument. Do you really want a pay-as-you-go system for the internet or roads or any other public good? I sure don't.

They switch to Access until they hit the data size limit of 2GB. Then they come back to IT who has to deal with the mess that you get when you allow domain experts to build databases.

"High-strung", "closed-minded"? I'm sort of offended. There's some good stuff going on in Detroit and Ann Arbor. Not to mention Grand Rapids and others.

Yeah, I realized after I posted that this is a good first step to that goal; a way to gather a bunch of user search and tagging. Thanks for sharing.

I really like the idea of this and other, similar products/services. I haven't used any of them since they don't seem to be exactly what I want. What I really want is auto tagging and classification + semantic search. I don

The difference is that the same algorithm that drives a car can't be used to do other tasks. The self-driving car algorithm can't just be plugged in to recommend a movie or summarize an article. Many of the same underlying compo

I meant innovation and progress in the sense of the sharing of good ideas, and solving shared problems. If a remote job only involves some kind of repeated task, it could probably just be automated.
