Yup, pretty much. I’ve not worked extensively with Forestry, but I have with Netlify CMS, which is an alternative with a very similar premise. My experience was that it’s very difficult to build a robust CMS on top of markdown. If basic con

Not sure what you mean by necessity. I promise I’m not trying to be pedantic, but it’s not required. Plus, there are other, newer JS frameworks out there that use html templates and the like. The struggle is just maintaining valid HTML.

My mind also went to the PR cost. Why try to go after their customers for their own mistake? The customer didn’t choose the pricing structure, they did. Put it on the P&L, move on and do better.

Even since they made autopilot standard, I still find this whole payment structure hard to swallow. I would understand the idea of end of life support or even a monthly subscription because I wholly embrace the idea of more maintainable cod

I remember reading this paper and I think watching a corresponding PoC video when this came out. Does anyone remember why or happen to know why this never made it to market? Error rate, maybe?

Hi, web app dev here. It’s possible to do. Whether it piques your interest or is worth your personal effort to do is of course up to you, but it is doable. Some may scoff, but I’d even say it’s possible to do it elegantly.

To answer your question: in terms of optimization, yes. Npm has pretty much closed the gap. However, depending on your package management strategy, I’d go with Yarn until/unless npm offers a better solution for monorepo package managem

Ethical decisions have consequences that include blame. Engineers are well-paid, highly sought after individuals. As long as they manage their finances responsibly, walking away from a job should not be as dire as you make it sound.

I think there’s a lot of substance there. Objectivism is a morally bankrupt excuse for a philosophical system, and Atlas Shrugged is a farcical, unrealistic and flimsy narrative awash with paper-thin characters and comical villains that ex

I think your examples hinted at an important part of network-driven applications: loading. Loading statuses, done correctly, and with the right attention to detail, can result in users waiting more patiently than many would ever believe. So
