So it's 3.5 years old, and the CF was availabile this May. And it is a very widely used feature among many organizations. If you want to use a new resource and feature, %90 likely it is an issue. There was even a public project to trac

Main use case of Terraform is not portability. Have fun porting your SQS queue, DynamoDB table or VPC config to GCP or Azure equivalents. It won't look like similar at all except the resource name. However, If you are only running cont

I run Windows Arm64 11 beta with Parallels and it can emulate x86/64 apps well enoug even on 4.5k resolution things are very snappy. And I run pcon planner which is a 3d modeling program which worked fine. Not sure exact speed though.

My use case is for mostly read-calls. I just tried it for DynamoDB Table, SQS Queue, SNS Topic, and EC2 Instance, Kinesis Stream. With these resources, only Kinesis supports List call. SQS Queue & SNS Topic does not even support READ. I

Elasticsearch, with a mapping that does not full text search indices disabled, and a relatively larger time, works very well for timeseries data. It does filtering & metric and bucket aggregations crazy fast. And it's very easy to

K8s integration sounds useful, there are also many startups in this area, and it's trivial to implement, however please consider that just a workload is requesting 2 CPUs, does not mean you can divide the underlying EC2's price pe

I agree AWS should tag all resources with their names already for them to show up in the Cost Explorer. However, we already tag by cost center or teams to identify costs. It's required as a policy and baked in most of our automations.

Tagging is required yes, but its a very simple practice. I worked in both small (3 accounts) and huge (200 accounts) orgs, and tagging, at least by name was never a problem regardless of tens of thousands of resources we manage. Cost Explor

It's not fair to compare imperative simple shell scripts with the things Terraform does. It has schema validation, state comparison, retries, failure handlers etc. Also, just as you can write extensions to kubectl, you can write your o

What's cynical about it? If the platform team is on the way it becomes a problem. And going to be on-call is way to go if you want to have actual ownership, or it becomes to same dev and ops people split. There is not an exact line. Pl

I mostly agree with you, an average dev does not know and do not care how things are done. But if platform team or any tooling is blocking you from delivering your features frequently, it becomes an issue. They are either under-staffed, or
